What remains the same?
O Tests are still being sent home for you to review with your child.
O Grading rubrics remain the same.O You still have the ability to
communicate with the teacher when the need arises.
What has changed?O You have the ability to see the scope
of academic performance at all times.
O There is no longer a need for interims to be sent home at the trimester mid-point.
O You will receive a warning notice if your child is in danger of failing, under performing or is experiencing a behavioral issue.
What else can you expect in the future?
O Email announcements from the teachers.
O More detailed report card comments and observations provided by the teachers.
The SKD HandbookO Life under two handbooks. There was
a need for norms to develop that suit our blended community.
O SKD Discipline Policy – JanuaryO The way SKD does things…it is in
writing now!
Where is it located?
O Go to the school website.O Look for the handbook icon and links
in three locations on the home page.
ConsequencesO Utilization of the discipline policy as
established last January.O Additional documentation of dress
code violations. O Supervised lunch detentions.
Your homeworkO Read each section of the handbook
thoroughly.O Click on each link to other related
website and/or form.O Download and print the handbook
agreement form. Sign it and return it by October 14th.
Security and crisis management at SKD
O December 2012 – A personal paradigm shift.

My words to you, the children, teachers and myself
O We are safe in our school. However, we need to know what to do if there is an emergency.
O We are prepared. If something bad were to happen we would know what to do.
