Neighbors and friends,A little poem about Thanksgiving Days (365 to be exact). It’s not just about one day a year, it’s about every day and everyone in your days.Be thankful! Be thankful for this day, and you will fill it with joy. Be appreciative of those around you, and they will bring much value to your life. Be grateful for your opportunities, and you’ll find yourself making the most of them. Be thankful for what you have, and you’ll get more from it. Be grateful for the challenges, and they will help you become stronger. Appreciate the dark, cloudy days and they’ll instantly become brighter. Appreciate the sunny days, and you’ll enjoy them even more. Those things you take for granted will fade from usefulness as you forget they’re even there. By contrast, those things for which you’re thankful remain readily available and will grow even stronger as a result of your appreciative attention. Consider how very fortunate you are. Consider it often. The more you count your blessings, the more there will be to count. (Author unknown)

Perfect Setting, Perfect Food, Perfect ServiceThe Perfect Holiday Party!

I t is hard to believe that the holidays are just around the corner and with the holiday sea-son comes holiday entertaining and holiday

events. Here at the Club we take great pride in hosting some of the most incredible holiday events held in New Tampa. Our setting and facility is truly unique, beginning with our spec-tacular Verandah which serves as a great out-door cocktail or casual dining area, The Palms Room overlooking our signature 17th hole and of course our Grand Ballroom which can ac-commodate up to 350 people.

Add to the facility the cuisine of our award winning Executive Chef, Jason Pierce and the service delivery of our Food and Beverage Director, Rich Closs and their teams and they insure the execution of your special event will be impeccable.

As your personal event planner it is my respon-sibility to take your vision of that perfect event and translate it into the details that bring the event to life. So if you are planning a business holiday event or social gathering bring your vision to us. We are experts at turning your vision into reality!

In addition to hosting and event at the Club we also can cater outside of the Club to the home. We have extensive offerings that can either be picked-up or delivered and served for you and your guests.

As a final thought for the Holidays, even if your gathering is as intimate as 6 – 10 people we have rooms that will accommodate and we have even created a specialty lunch offering for the month of December that takes no planning at all.

Contact me, Jeannelle Rossano for all the details, 813.972.1991.

whether you live in Cleveland, Ohio or Wesley Chapel, FL,

fall and winter translate to cooler temperatures outdoors. The leaves are hissing a dry rustle and the air is growing chillier; winter is just around the corner. Homeowners may be pulling out their scarves and mittens and packing away their tank tops and swimsuits in preparation, but how can you also help your home weather the cold temperatures?

The U.S. Department of Energy predicting natural gas and heating oil prices to rise again this year, now is the time for homeowners to address rising home heating costs and to

integrate winterizing tips to conserve energy.

IERNA’s Heating & Cooling, a local HVAC comapny, is commit-ted to the community and will do Whatever it Takes to help educate consumers and provide cost-effective, energy-efficient solutions to their heating needs.

The U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy notes that air leaks cost homeowners a surprising amount of money, so be sure and winterize your home before chilly weather arrives.

There are several things a hom-eowner should consider doing as the cooler months approach.

• Schedule a professional to inspect your furnace, heat pump or heat strips

• Schedule a professional to inspect and clean the chimney

• Vacuum vents and other heating components

• Replace furnace or A/C filters

• Seal leaks around doors and windows

• Add or replace worn weather-strip-ping around doors and windows

• Caulk gaps where needed

• Insulate! Focus on crawl spaces, basements, walls, floors and attics

• Consider replacing old windows with newer, more energy-efficient models

• Draw your drapes at night to keep out cold

• Open the drapes during the day to allow the sun to help heat your home.

• Turn your ceiling fans on reverse and run them on low to help circu-late warm air

• Replace your old light bulbs with Compact Florescent Lamps or with LED bulbs.

Both alternatives are longer lasting than traditional light bulbs and use less energy. Winter means fewer hours of sunlight and more time indoors, so use light bulbs that last longer and are more energy efficient

For more information, please contact IernA’s Heating & Cool-ing at 813-948-6355 or visit their website at www.IernaAir.com. Also visit the national Associa-tion of state energy officials’ web site at www.naseo.org/members/states.htm. v

Editorial

The Hillsborough Area Regional Transit (HART) Board of Directors adopted light rail as the pre-ferred alternative transit mode to implement in the study areas of the Alternatives Analysis. The HART Board voted on this during its regular meeting at County Center in downtown Tampa.

Since July 2009, HART has been conducting the Alternatives Analysis to study increased and improved transportation options in an area that extends from New Tampa to downtown Tampa (Northeast Corridor), and continues to the Wests-hore area and through Tampa International Airport to Hillsborough Avenue (West Corridor).

The vote came after HART staff presented the find-ings of the Alternatives Analysis study, which rec-ommended light rail over bus rapid transit based on air quality benefits, the ability to encourage transit-oriented development, strong support from the public and partnering agencies (i.e. Tampa Inter-national Airport, Metropolitan Planning Organiza-tion, etc.), and consistency with local and regional plans.

In November, HART staff will present findings and recommendations on the specific routes where the light rail will travel within the Northeast and West Corridors. As a requirement to request capital funding for a major transit investment, HART will submit its final Alternative Analysis to the Federal Transit Administration in December.

The next HART Board Regular Meeting is sched-uled for Monday, Nov. 15, 8:30 a.m. at County Center, 18th Floor, 601 E. Kennedy Blvd., in downtown Tampa.

For more information about the Alternatives Analy-sis, residents may visit www.goHARTaa.org

At least 80% of my female clients complain of lower abdominal bloating, and 70-80% of my male clientele gripe

of indigestion or chronic sinus issues.

DIDYouknoW?• One of the leading causes of obesity is food sensitivity?

• 60-80% of the population is sensitive to one or more foods?

• Food sensitivities are a primary cause of emotional problems?

Are you constantly struggling with reaching or maintaining a healthy weight due to food crav-ings? Foods you are sensitive to are toxic to your system. If you crave or are addicted to a specific food, you are probably sensitive to it.

Food sensitivities can cause many health ail-ments and some serious conditions such as lupus or autism. The toxic conditions most commonly associated with food sensitivities are skin rashes and hives, disrupted sleep, con-stipation, runny nose, itchy eyes and ears, blu-ish or black tint under the eyes, chronic cough, stiff neck, joint pain, bags under the eyes, sore throat, headache, bad breath, back ache, asth-ma and sinus congestion.

Years ago, Dr. Arthur Coca popularized the "pulse test" for food allergy. He found that some (but definitely not all) allergic individuals have a significant increase in their resting pulse after eating a particular food allergen. Others have observed that eating certain trigger foods causes them to retain fluids, which manifests as a significant weight gain that doesn't disappear

by the next morning (like most water-weight gain). Any body system can react to food al-lergy: Some allergies may affect your pulse or weight, while other allergies don't affect pulse or weight at all.

Food allergy is the reaction of the body's immune system to a food or food ingredi-ent that it recognizes as "foreign." Food intolerance/sensitivity is an adverse reac-tion to a food, food ingredient or additive that does not involve the immune system; it typically involves the digestive system.

In addition, many people are intolerant to MSG, food dyes, artificial sweeteners, sulfites and other preservatives, beer, wine and cocktail mixes.

WhATCAnYouDo?For one week, eliminate all dairy products, corn, eggs, soy, peanuts and wheat. If your symptoms disappear after one week, you need go no further. However, if you still aren't symptom-free after eliminating all dairy, corn, eggs soy, peanuts and wheat, ad-ditionally avoid anything containing gluten (wheat, rye, barley, oats, kamut, spelt), toma-toes, citrus fruits, shrimp, crab and other shell fish, chocolate, yeast, coffee and all artificial sweeteners (aspartame). Supplements and protein powders with additives and fillers should also be eliminated.

If you have persistent health issues that don't seem to get better no matter what you do, you should consider having a thorough screening done even if you get a negative result on your self-test.

To avoid food sensitivities, it’s important to get into the habit of rotating all foods every day and reading the list of ingredients on all products. I challenge you to eliminate the top 8 culprit foods and see how incredibly good you feel and look! l

as a long line runs into the parking lot of Atonement Lutheran Church, most motorists pay little attention as they

navigate Hwy 54 in Wesley Chapel. Few desire to contemplate the reasons that over 180 local families re-create this line each Wednesday from 10AM-2PM. People look the other way, perhaps because they fear that the devastating effects of un/under-employment and the housing bust could happen to them or one of their family members anytime.

Local charities, along with the Rotary Club of New Tampa, are not looking the other way. The Helping Hands Pantry is a 501c3 charity which utilizes the resources of several local churches and businesses in order to provide food and support to local families in-need.

The Rotary Club of New Tampa is providing both monetary aid and 20 volunteers to help in a special Thanksgiving event to be held on Wednesday, No-vember 17th. Volunteers include local Rotarians as well as high school members of the Rotary’s In-teract Club. Rotary Club President, Gary Gunter,

told this publication that ---“Our club supports many local charities with donations of money and labor and we are especially happy we are able to as-sist the great, on-going work of the volunteers who staff the Helping Hands Pantry.”

Helping Hands Pantry is located at Atonement Church at 29617 SR 54, Wesley Chapel, 1.9 miles east of I-75. Additional information can be obtained by phoning (813)973-2211

Lacrosse, one of the fastest growing sports in Flori-da, descends on the Tampa Bay area on November 20-21, 2010, when the 4th Annual Derek Pieper Memorial Cup presented by Maverik Lacrosse re-turns to Wesley Chapel District Park. This year’s action is destined to be legendary when over 80 of the top teams in Florida compete to earn a spot in the club lacrosse national championship, The DICK’S Sporting Goods Tournament of Champi-ons, which will also be held in Wesley Chapel later this year.

The Wesley Chapel Athletic Association dedicated the boys and girls tournament to WCAA lacrosse player Derek Pieper, who was murdered in 2006. A portion of the tournament proceeds goes towards the Derek Pieper Memorial Fund, a scholarship program for lacrosse players from needy families, and other local lacrosse programs. There is no entry fee for spectators.

Qualifier games begin at 8 am on Saturday, Novem-ber 20th, with playoff and championship games

wrapping up on Sunday. Fun for all ages includes great food, a bungie jump station, a rock climbing wall, lacrosse equipment & apparel vendors, and the 4th Annual Coaches Game featuring the visit-ing lacrosse coaches versus

the F.R.O.G.S (the Florida Really Old Guys). This year, with more teams than ever before, the Derek Pieper Memorial Cup presented by Maverik La-crosse promises to be a must-see event.

“fall inside out” The attached photo was taken several years ago off of Tampa Palms Blvd. near the Tampa Palms golf course. I color rever-sal film, which produces a positive image when developed, and scanned the film as if it were a color negative which caused the unusual color,

contrast and texture.

My husband loves this picture and saw the contest... he say he guar-antees it will be picked :) We will see! This is our daughter Sydney... she just turned one on 9/23/2010. - Sabrina
