Dear Warooka Schools Community,
“Be Passionate.”
‘If you don’t do stuff you might not normally do, you might
miss out because you stick to what you know and don’t
explore new stuff.’
-Student Group, Warooka 2020.
What great advice, especially when it comes from our
students.
We are sincerely hoping that we can have a focussed and
productive term 3.
There are a number of happenings that the school will be
involved in ranging from PAT (Progressive Achievement
Testing (Literacy & Numeracy), various school sport
activities, a visit from Footsteps Dance, year 2-5 camps, as
well as the broad range of activities that we offer from SBP
-7. We also continue to enlist support from external
providers to assist teachers and students.
Warooka Schools are places where students can be engaged, challenged and supported.
We thank the parent and broader community for their support of our schools and look forward to
strengthening the partnership between us to offer the best possible opportunities for our students
to grow and thrive.
Whatever is your own personal focus we should all heed the advice of our illustrious students.

Interviews
If you would like an interview with your child’s teacher can you please contact them and negotiate
a mutually convenient time. Could you please do this by week 3 as our timetable is rapidly filling
up. Please understand that this does not preclude you from arranging something later in the year
should the need arise.
Student Free Day
Please note Student free day for August 10 has been postponed. As such school will be operating
as normal.
Footsteps dance lessons
Children from Preschool to Year 7 will participate in dance lessons next week, with instructors
from Footsteps Dance Company here from Monday to Wednesday. We are looking forward to
these sessions.
Focus on Learning
Genius Hour
In Term 2, the Year 6/7 Class participated in Genius Hour each week. This hour provided time for
the students to explore their own passions and wonders. Each student selected their own topic
framed around an inquiry question. Students were required to learn a new skill, create a product
or help the community by the end of the term. Here are some photos of student projects.
Kingsley
Created a model of a boat that collects
rubbish from the ocean.
Ned
Created a car that reduces pollution in the
air.
Scarlette
Researched how to design a shoe and learnt
how to create a digital drawing of a shoe
using an iPad.
Oscar
Researched students’ preferences about
chairs and built a chair based on his
findings.
Year r/1/2 are investigating what cereal boxes look like. What type of writing they use. The bright
colours they use to attract consumers to buy their cereal.
Eventually the goal will be to design and make our own
cereal box.
