1 Bless the Lord, O my soul,

and all that is within me,

bless his holy name. 2 Bless the Lord, O my soul,

and do not forget all his benefits—

Stand

THE SPLENDOUR OF THE KING,

Clothed in majesty; Let all the earth rejoice,

4

All the earth rejoice.

He wraps Himself in light,

And darkness tries to hide, And trembles at His voice,

And trembles at His voice.

How great is our God, sing with me

how great is our God, and all will see

how great, how great is our God.

From age to age He stands,

and time is in His hands; the beginning and the end,

the beginning and the end.

The Godhead, three in one; Father, Spirit, Son,

The Lion and the Lamb,

The Lion and the Lamb.

Name above all names,

Worthy of all praise; My heart will sing

how great is our God.

+Steven Hear these words of Jesus, spoken after he had washed his disciples’

feet:

“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will

know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

Jesus Christ is the Prince of Peace. We meet in his name and share his

peace. The peace of the Lord be always with you And also with you

We offer one another signs of peace

Will you come and follow Me

If I but call your name? Will you go where you don’t know

And never be the same?

Will you let My love be shown,

5

Will you let My name be known,

Will you let My life be grown in you,

And you in Me?

Will you leave yourself behind

If I but call your name? Will you care for cruel and kind

And never be the same?

Will you risk the hostile stare, Should your life attract or scare?

Will you let Me answer prayer

In you and you in Me?

Will you let the blinded see

If I but call your name? Will you set the prisoners free

And never be the same?

Will you kiss the leper clean, And do such as this unseen,

And admit to what I mean

In you and you in Me?

Will you love the ‘you’ you hide

If I but call your name? Will you quell the fear inside

And never be the same?

Will you use the faith you’ve found To reshape the world around,

Through My sight and touch and

sound In you and you in Me?

Lord, Your summons echoes true When You but call my name.

Let me turn and follow You

And never be the same. In Your company I’ll go

Where Your love and footsteps show;

Thus I’ll move and live and grow In You and You in me.

Evening Prayer on Tuesday Preparation

O God, make speed to save us.

O Lord, make haste to help us.

Just as I am, without one plea,

but that Thy blood was shed for me, and that Thou bidd’st me come to Thee,

O Lamb of God, I come!

Just as I am, and waiting not

to rid my soul of one dark blot,

to Thee, whose blood can cleanse each spot O Lamb of God, I come!

Just as I am, though tossed about with many a conflict, many a doubt,

fightings within, and fears without, O Lamb of God, I come!

Just as I am, poor, wretched, blind; sight, riches, healing of the mind,

yea, all I need, in Thee to find,

O Lamb of God, I come!

Just as I am, Thou wilt receive,

wilt welcome, pardon, cleanse, relieve: because Thy promise I believe,

O Lamb of God, I come!

Just as I am, Thy love unknown

hath broken every barrier down;

7

now, to be Thine, yea, Thine alone,

O Lamb of God, I come!

This opening prayer may be said

That this evening may be holy, good and peaceful, let us pray with one heart and mind.

Silence is kept.

As our evening prayer rises before you, O God,

so may your mercy come down upon us to cleanse our hearts

and set us free to sing your praise

now and for ever. Amen.

The Word of God

Psalm 32 1 Happy are those whose transgression is forgiven,

whose sin is covered. 2 Happy are those to whom the LORD imputes no iniquity,

and in whose spirit there is no deceit. 3 While I kept silence, my body wasted away

through my groaning all day long.

4 For day and night your hand was heavy upon me;

my strength was dried us as by the heat of summer

5 Then I acknowledged my sin to you,

and I did not hide my iniquity;

I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the LORD,”

and you forgave the guilt of my sin.

6 Therefore let all who are faithful

offer prayer to you;

at a time of distress, the rush of mighty waters shall not reach them.

7 You are a hiding place for me; you preserve me from trouble;

you surround me with glad cries of deliverance.

8

8 I will instruct you and teach you the way you should go;

I will counsel you with my eye upon you.

9 Do not be like a horse or a mule, without understanding, whose temper must be curbed with bit and bridle,

else it will not stay near you.

10 Many are the torments of the wicked,

but steadfast love surrounds those who trust in the LORD.

11 Be glad in the LORD and rejoice, O righteous, and shout for joy, all you upright in heart.

Glory to the Father and to the Son

and to the Holy Spirit;

as it was in the beginning is now

and shall be for ever. Amen.

Scripture Reading

Matthew 4.18-22

To be a true disciple, to be one who follows Jesus, we need to leave

behind many things, particularly those things which distract us. We take

this opportunity now to think of those things which lay heavy on our hearts and souls. We ask God to lift that burden from us. During the

following song we have the opportunity to reflect on what the things that

trouble us are.

Father, I place into Your hands the things that I can’t do.

Father, I place into Your hands

the times that I’ve been through.

Father, I place into Your hands the way that I should go,

for I know I always can trust You.

Father, I place into Your hands

my friends and family. Father, I place into Your hands

the things that trouble me.

Father, I place into Your hands the person I would be,

for I know I always can trust You.

Father, we love to seek Your face,

9

we love to hear Your voice.

Father, we love to sing Your praise,

and in Your name rejoice. Father, we love to walk with You

and in Your presence rest,

for we know we always can trust You.

Father, I want to be with You and do the things You do.

Father, I want to speak the words

that You are speaking too. Father, I want to love the ones

that You will draw to You,

for I know that I am one with You.

Jenny Hewer © 1975 Thankyou Music

There is now the opportunity to write down the things that you wish to

lay down and place them in one of the bowls.

During this the Anthem ‘Lead Me Lord’ S.S. Wesley will be sung.

Lord, help us to lay down the things that trouble us.

Help us to hear your voice and to be open to where you are leading. Gives us the strength and courage to be disciples; to trust you and to

follow in your way.

Amen

Silence is kept.

Abide with us, Lord, for it is evening,

and day is drawing to a close. Abide with us and with your whole Church,

in the evening of the day,

in the evening of life, in the evening of the world;

abide with us and with all your faithful ones, O Lord,

in time and in eternity. Amen.

Let us pray with confidence as our Saviour has taught us:

10

Our Father, who art in heaven,

hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come;

thy will be done;

on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses,

as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation;

but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory,

for ever and ever.

Amen.

The Conclusion

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ,

and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit,

be with us all evermore.

Amen.

Let us bless the Lord.

Thanks be to God.

Night Prayer on Tuesday Preparation

The Lord almighty grant us a quiet night and a perfect end. Amen.

Our help is in the name of the Lord who made heaven and earth.

The Collect God of truth,

help us to keep your law of love

and to walk in ways of wisdom, that we may find true life

in Jesus Christ your Son.

Amen

Scripture Reading

Mark 4.35-41

On that day, when evening had come, he said to them, “Let us go across to the other side.” And leaving the crowd behind, they took him with

them in the boat, just as he was. Other boats were with him. A great

windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that the boat was already being swamped. But he was in the stern, asleep on the cushion;

and they woke him up and said to him, “Teacher, do you not care that

we are perishing?” He woke up and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace! Be still!” Then the wind ceased, and there was a dead calm.

He said to them, “Why are you afraid? Have you still no faith?” And they

were filled with great awe and said to one another, “Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?”

Music for reflection on the past day:

Spiegel im Spiegel - Arvo Pärt

Visit this place, O Lord, we pray,

and drive far from it the snares of the enemy; may your holy angels dwell with us and guard us in peace,

and may your blessing be always upon us;

through Jesus Christ our Lord.

12

All Amen.

The Lord’s Prayer

The Conclusion In peace we will lie down and sleep;

for you alone, Lord, make us dwell in safety.

Abide with us, Lord Jesus, for the night is at hand and the day is now past.

As the night watch looks for the morning, so do we look for you, O Christ.

Come with the dawning of the day and make yourself known in the breaking of the bread.

The Lord bless us and watch over us;

the Lord make his face shine upon us and be gracious to us;

the Lord look kindly on us and give us peace. Amen.

Eucharist on Wednesday

The Gathering

Praise, my soul, the king of heaven!

To his feet thy tribute bring. Ransomed, healed, restored, forgiven,

Who like me his praise should sing?

Praise him! Praise him! Praise him! Praise him!

Praise the everlasting king.

Praise him for his grace and favour

to our fathers in distress;

praise him still the same for ever, slow to chide and swift to bless.

Praise him, praise him!

Praise him! Praise him! Glorious in his faithfulness.

Father-like he tends and spares us; well our feeble frame he knows;

in his hands he gently bears us,

rescues us from all our foes. Praise him, praise him!

Praise him! Praise him!

Widely as his mercy flows.

Angels, help us to adore him;

ye behold him face to face; sun and moon bow down before him,

dwellers all in time and space.

Praise him! Praise him! Praise him! Praise him!

Praise with us the God of grace!

Henry Frances Lyte (1793-1847)

and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

The Greeting The president greets the people

The Lord be with you

and also with you.

Words of welcome or introduction may be said.

Prayer of Preparation

Almighty God,

to whom all hearts are open,

all desires known,

and from whom no secrets are hidden:

cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit,

that we may perfectly love you,

and worthily magnify your holy name; through Christ our Lord.

Amen.

Prayers of Penitence

Our Lord Jesus Christ said: The first commandment is this:

'Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God is the only Lord.

You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind,

and with all your strength.'

The second is this: 'Love your neighbour as yourself.'

There is no other commandment greater than these. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

Amen. Lord, have mercy.

God so loved the world

that he gave his only Son Jesus Christ to save us from our sins,

to be our advocate in heaven,

and to bring us to eternal life. Let us confess our sins in penitence and faith,

firmly resolved to keep God's commandments and to live in love and peace with all.

15

Most merciful God,

Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, we confess that we have sinned

in thought, word and deed.

We have not loved you with our whole heart. We have not loved our neighbours as ourselves.

In your mercy

forgive what we have been, help us to amend what we are,

and direct what we shall be;

that we may do justly, love mercy,

and walk humbly with you, our God.

Amen.

The president says

Almighty God,

who forgives all who truly repent,

have mercy upon you, pardon and deliver you from all your sins,

confirm and strengthen you in all goodness,

and keep you in life eternal; through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen.

Gloria in Excelsis

Glory to God in the highest, and peace to his people on earth.

Lord God, heavenly King,

almighty God and Father, we worship you, we give you thanks,

we praise you for your glory.

Lord Jesus Christ, only Son of the Father, Lord God, Lamb of God,

you take away the sin of the world:

have mercy on us;

you are seated at the right hand of the Father:

receive our prayer.

For you alone are the Holy One, you alone are the Lord,

you alone are the Most High, Jesus Christ,

with the Holy Spirit, in the glory of God the Father.

Amen.

16

The Collect

God of truth,

help us to keep your law of love

and to walk in ways of wisdom, that we may find true life

in Jesus Christ your Son.

Amen.

but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.

Hear the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to Mark

Glory to you, O Lord.

Reading: Mark 1.35-39

This is the Gospel of the Lord

Praise to you, O Christ.

Hymn solo for reflection:

Come, Holy Ghost, our souls inspire, And lighten with celestial fire;

Thou the anointing Spirit art,

17

Who dost Thy sev’nfold gifts impart.

Praise to Thy eternal merit,

Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Thy blessèd unction from above

Is comfort, life, and fire of love; Enable with perpetual light

The dullness of our blinded sight.

Anoint and cheer our soilèd face

With the abundance of Thy grace;

Keep far our foes, give peace at home;

Where Thou art Guide, no ill can come.

Teach us to know the Father, Son, And Thee, of both, to be but One;

That through the ages all along

This, this may be our endless song.

Affirmation of faith

Do you believe and trust in God the Father,

source of all being and life,

the one for whom we exist?

We believe and trust in him.

Do you believe and trust in God the Son,

who took our human nature,

died for us and rose again?

We believe and trust in him.

Do you believe and trust in God the Holy Spirit, who gives life to the people of God

and makes Christ known in the world?

We believe and trust in him.

This is the faith of the Church

This is our faith We believe and trust in one God,

Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

The Peace

Blessed are the peacemakers: they shall be called children of God.

We meet in the name of Christ and share his peace.

The peace of the Lord be always with you

and also with you. The Deacon says:

Let us offer one another a sign of peace.

All may exchange signs of peace.

Preparation of the Table

Taking of the Bread and Wine

Prayer F

The Lord be with you

and also with you.

Lift up your hearts.

19

We lift them to the Lord.

Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.

It is right to give thanks and praise.

You are worthy of our thanks and praise, Lord God of truth,

for by the breath of your mouth

you have spoken your word, and all things have come into being.

You fashioned us in your image and placed us in the garden of your delight.

Though we chose the path of rebellion you would not abandon your own.

Again and again you drew us into your covenant of grace.

You gave your people the law and taught us by your prophets

to look for your reign of justice, mercy and peace.

As we watch for the signs of your kingdom on earth, we echo the song of the angels in heaven,

evermore praising you and saying:

Holy, holy, holy Lord,

God of power and might,

heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest.

Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.

Hosanna in the highest.

Lord God, you are the most holy one, enthroned in splendour and light, yet in the coming of your Son Jesus Christ

you reveal the power of your love made perfect in our human weakness.

Amen. Lord, we believe.

Embracing our humanity, Jesus showed us the way of salvation;

loving us to the end, he gave himself to death for us;

dying for his own,

he set us free from the bonds of sin, that we might rise and reign with him in glory.

Amen. Lord, we believe.

20

On the night he gave up himself for us all

he took bread and gave you thanks; he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying:

Take, eat; this is my body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of me.

Amen. Lord, we believe.

In the same way, after supper he took the cup and gave you thanks;

he gave it to them, saying: Drink this, all of you; this is my blood of the new covenant

which is shed for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.

Amen. Lord, we believe.

Therefore we proclaim the death that he suffered on the cross,

we celebrate his resurrection, his bursting from the tomb,

we rejoice that he reigns at your right hand on high and we long for his coming in glory.

Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.

As we recall the one, perfect sacrifice of our redemption, Father, by your Holy Spirit let these gifts of your creation be to us the body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ;

form us into the likeness of Christ and make us a perfect offering in your sight.

Amen. Come, Holy Spirit.

Look with favour on your people and in your mercy hear the cry of our hearts.

Bless the earth,

heal the sick, let the oppressed go free and fill your Church with power from on high.

Amen. Come, Holy Spirit.

Gather your people from the ends of the earth

to feast with all your saints

at the table in your kingdom, where the new creation is brought to perfection in Jesus Christ our Lord;

by whom, and with whom, and in whom, in the unity of the Holy Spirit,

all honour and glory be yours, almighty Father, for ever and ever.

Amen.

21

The Lord's Prayer

As our Saviour taught us, so we pray

Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,

your kingdom come,

your will be done, on earth as in heaven.

Give us today our daily bread.

Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us.

Lead us not into temptation

but deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power,

and the glory are yours

now and for ever. Amen.

Breaking of the Bread

We break this bread

to share in the body of Christ. Though we are many, we are one body,

because we all share in one bread.

Giving of Communion

Draw near with faith.

Receive the body of our Lord Jesus Christ

which he gave for you, and his blood which he shed for you.

Eat and drink

in remembrance that he died for you, and feed on him in your hearts

by faith with thanksgiving.

We do not presume

to come to this your table, merciful Lord, trusting in our own righteousness,

but in your manifold and great mercies.

We are not worthy so much as to gather up the crumbs under your table.

But you are the same Lord

22

whose nature is always to have mercy.

Grant us therefore, gracious Lord,

so to eat the flesh of your dear Son Jesus Christ and to drink his blood,

that our sinful bodies may be made clean by his body

and our souls washed through his most precious blood,

and that we may evermore dwell in him, and he in us. Amen.

The president and people receive communion.

During communion these songs may be sung:

All I once held dear, built my life upon

All this world reveres, and wars to own

All I once thought gain I have counted loss

Spent and worthless now, compared to this

Knowing you, Jesus

Knowing you, there is no greater thing You're my all, you're the best

You're my joy, my righteousness

And I love you, Lord

Now my heart's desire is to know you more

To be found in you and known as yours To possess by faith what I could not earn

Prayer after Communion Silence is kept.

The Post Communion prayer:

Eternal Father,

we thank you for nourishing us

with these heavenly gifts: may our communion strengthen us in faith,

build us up in hope,

and make us grow in love; for the sake of Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen

Father of all,

we give you thanks and praise, that when we were still far off

you met us in your Son and brought us home.

Dying and living, he declared your love,

gave us grace, and opened the gate of glory.

May we who share Christ's body live his risen life; we who drink his cup bring life to others;

we whom the Spirit lights give light to the world.

Keep us firm in the hope you have set before us,

24

so we and all your children shall be free,

and the whole earth live to praise your name;

through Christ our Lord. Amen.

The Dismissal

We have a gospel to proclaim,

good news for all throughout the earth; the gospel of a Saviour’s name:

We sing his glory, tell his worth.

Tell of his birth at Bethlehem

not in a royal house or hall

but in a stable dark and dim,

the Word made flesh, a light for all.

Tell of his death at Calvary,

hated by those he came to save, in lonely suffering on the cross;

for all he loved his life he gave.

Tell of that glorious Easter morn:

Empty the tomb, for he was free.

He broke the power of death and hell that we might share his victory.

Tell of his reign at God’s right hand,

by all creation glorified. He sends his Spirit on his church

to live for him, the Lamb who died.

Now we rejoice to name him King:

Jesus is Lord of all the earth. This gospel-message we proclaim:

We sing his glory, tell his worth. Edward Joseph Burns Almighty God,

who for the salvation of the world

gives to his people many gifts and ministries to the advancement of his glory,

stir up in you the gifts of his grace,

sustain each one of you in your own ministry

25

and the blessing of God almighty,

the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit,

be among you and remain with you always. Amen.

The Deacon says: Go in peace to love and serve the Lord

In the name of Christ. Amen.

Who may dwell on your holy hill?

2 Those who walk blamelessly, and do what is right,

and speak the truth from their heart; 3 who do not slander with their tongue,

and do no evil to their friends, nor take up a reproach against their neighbours;

I have given you as a light to the nations,

and I have called you in righteousness.

who fashioned the earth and all that dwells in it;

2 Who gives breath to the people upon it

and spirit to those who walk in it,

3 'I am the Lord and I have called you in righteousness, I have taken you by the hand and kept you;

4 'I have given you as a covenant to the people, a light to the nations, to open the eyes that are blind,

Gospel Canticle The Benedictus Luke 1.68-79

You promised, O God, to save us from our enemies,

from the hands of all that hate us.

1 Blessed be the Lord the God of Israel,

who has come to his people and set them free.

2 He has raised up for us a mighty Saviour,

born of the house of his servant David.

3 Through his holy prophets God promised of old

to save us from our enemies, from the hands of all that hate us,

4 To show mercy to our ancestors, and to remember his holy covenant.

5 This was the oath God swore to our father Abraham: to set us free from the hands of our enemies,

6 Free to worship him without fear, holy and righteous in his sight

all the days of our life.

7 And you, child, shall be called the prophet of the Most High,

for you will go before the Lord to prepare his way,

8 To give his people knowledge of salvation

by the forgiveness of all their sins.

9 In the tender compassion of our God

the dawn from on high shall break upon us,

10 To shine on those who dwell in darkness and the shadow of

death, and to guide our feet into the way of peace.

Closing Eucharist on Thursday

The Gathering

All my hope on God is founded,

all my trust He shall renew; He, my guide through changing order,

only good and only true.

God unknown, He alone calls my heart to be His own.

Pride of man and earthly glory,

sword and crown betray His trust;

all that human toil can fashion, tower and temple, fall to dust.

But God’s power, hour by hour,

is my temple and my tower.

Day by day our mighty giver

grants to us His gifts of love; in His will our souls find pleasure,

leading to our home above.

Love shall stand at His hand, joy shall wait for His command.

Still from man to God eternal sacrifice of praise be done,

high above all praises praising for the gift of Christ His Son.

Hear Christ’s call one and all:

we who follow shall not fall. after Joachim Neander (1650–80) Robert Bridges (1844–1930)

and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

The Greeting The president greets the people

39

The Lord be with you

and also with you.

Words of welcome or introduction may be said.

Prayer of Preparation

Almighty God, to whom all hearts are open,

all desires known,

and from whom no secrets are hidden: cleanse the thoughts of our hearts

by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love you,

and worthily magnify your holy name;

through Christ our Lord.

Most merciful God, as a church we confess our sins in mission:

our dullness in following

the prompting of your Spirit; our cowardice in speaking of Jesus;

40

our lives that mar the claims we make;

our shame caused by hypocrisy or abuse;

our preoccupation with internal churchly issues;

our damping down of

the fires of renewal and radical mission: forgive what we have been

help us to amend what we are

and direct what we shall be; that we may serve you in newness of life

to the glory of your name.

Amen.

The president says

Almighty God, who forgives all who truly repent,

have mercy upon you,

pardon and deliver you from all your sins, confirm and strengthen you in all goodness,

and keep you in life eternal;

through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Gloria in Excelsis

All sing Glory, glory, glory in the highest, Glory, glory, glory in the highest, Peace to all on earth.

Lord God heavenly King, Almighty God and Father;

We worship you, We give you thanks,

We praise you for your glory.

Glory…

O Lord Jesus Christ,

Son of the Father,

Lord God, Lamb of God,

You take away the sin of the world. Glory…

Have mercy on us,

Have mercy on us,

41

For you are seated,

At the right hand of the Father,

Receive our prayer. Glory…

4. You alone are the One,

You alone are Lord. You alone are Most High,

Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit.

In the

glory, glory, glory of the Father. Glory, glory, glory of the Father, Glory of His name!

The Creed

We believe in one God,

the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth,

of all that is,

seen and unseen.

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God,

eternally begotten of the Father,

God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God,

begotten, not made,

of one Being with the Father; through him all things were made.

For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven, was incarnate from the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary

and was made man.

For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried.

On the third day he rose again

in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven

and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead,

and his kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit,

the Lord, the giver of life,

who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is worshipped and glorified,

who has spoken through the prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church.

We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.

We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come.

Amen.

Preparation of the Table

Taking of the Bread and Wine The gifts of the people may be gathered and presented.

Hope of our calling: hope through courage won; By those who dared to share all Christ had done.

Saints of today, Christ’s banner now unfurled,

We bring his gospel to a waiting world.

Hope of our calling: hope with strength empowered,

Inspired by all that we have seen and heard; This call is ours, for we are chosen too,

To live for God in all we say and do.

Hope of our calling: hope with grace outpoured,

From death’s despair the gift of life restored;

Our call to serve, to wash each other’s feet, To bring Christ’s healing touch to all we meet.

Hope of our calling: hope by faith made bold; To sow God’s righteousness throughout the world;

Bring peace from conflict, fruitfulness from weeds,

The kingdom’s harvest from a mustard seed.

Hope of our calling: Spirit-filled, unbound,

Old joys remembered and new purpose found, Our call refreshed by sacrament and word,

We go in peace to love and serve the Lord. Ally Barrett

46

Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation:

through your goodness we have this bread to set before you,

which earth has given and human hands have made. It will become for us the bread of life.

All Blessed be God for ever.

Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation:

through your goodness we have this wine to set before you,

fruit of the vine and work of human hands. It will become for us the cup of salvation.

All Blessed be God for ever.

Prayer G

The Lord is here. His Spirit is with us.

Lift up your hearts. We lift them to the Lord.

Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.

It is right to give thanks and praise.

Blessed are you, Lord God, our light and our salvation;

to you be glory and praise for ever.

From the beginning you have created all things

and all your works echo the silent music of your praise. In the fullness of time you made us in your image,

the crown of all creation. You give us breath and speech, that with angels and archangels

and all the powers of heaven we may find a voice to sing your praise:

Hosanna, hosanna, hosanna in the highest. Hosanna, hosanna, hosanna in the highest

In the highest heavens. Holy, holy Lord, God of power and might,

All the earth gives praise to you,

We sing with all creation.

47

Hosanna…

Blessed, blessed is he who comes

in God’s own name,

All the earth gives praise to you, We sing with all creation.

Hosanna…

How wonderful the work of your hands, O Lord.

As a mother tenderly gathers her children, you embraced a people as your own.

When they turned away and rebelled

your love remained steadfast.

From them you raised up Jesus our Saviour, born of Mary,

to be the living bread, in whom all our hungers are satisfied.

He offered his life for sinners,

and with a love stronger than death he opened wide his arms on the cross.

On the night before he died, he came to supper with his friends

and, taking bread, he gave you thanks.

He broke it and gave it to them, saying: Take, eat; this is my body which is given for you;

do this in remembrance of me.

At the end of supper, taking the cup of wine,

he gave you thanks, and said:

Drink this, all of you; this is my blood of the new covenant, which is shed for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins.

Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.

Great is the mystery of faith: Christ has died:

Christ is risen:

Christ will come again.

Father, we plead with confidence

his sacrifice made once for all upon the cross; we remember his dying and rising in glory,

and we rejoice that he intercedes for us at your right hand.

Pour out your Holy Spirit as we bring before you

48

these gifts of your creation;

may they be for us the body and blood of your dear Son.

As we eat and drink these holy things in your presence, form us in the likeness of Christ,

and build us into a living temple to your glory.

Bring us at the last with all the saints

to the vision of that eternal splendour for which you have created us;

through Jesus Christ, our Lord,

by whom, with whom, and in whom,

with all who stand before you in earth and heaven, we worship you, Father almighty, in songs of everlasting praise:

Amen, amen, alleluia, amen. Amen, amen, alleluia, amen. Alleluia!

The Lord's Prayer

As our Saviour taught us, so we pray

Our Father in heaven,

hallowed be your name,

your kingdom come, your will be done,

on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread.

Forgive us our sins

as we forgive those who sin against us. Lead us not into temptation

but deliver us from evil.

For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours

now and for ever. Amen.

Breaking of the Bread

We break this bread

to share in the body of Christ. Though we are many, we are one body,

because we all share in one bread.

49

Giving of Communion

Draw near with faith.

Receive the body of our Lord Jesus Christ which he gave for you,

and his blood which he shed for you.

Eat and drink in remembrance that he died for you,

and feed on him in your hearts

by faith with thanksgiving. The president and people receive communion.

Let all mortal flesh keep silence,

And with fear and trembling stand; Ponder nothing earthly minded,

For with blessing in His hand,

Christ our God to earth descendeth, Our full homage to demand.

King of kings, yet born of Mary,

As of old on earth He stood,

Lord of lords, in human vesture, In the body and the blood;

He will give to all the faithful

His own self for heavenly food.

Rank on rank the host of heaven Spreads its vanguard on the way,

As the Light of light descendeth

From the realms of endless day, That the powers of hell may vanish

As the darkness clears away.

At His feet the six wingèd seraph,

Cherubim with sleepless eye,

Veil their faces to the presence, As with ceaseless voice they cry:

Alleluia, Alleluia Alleluia, Lord Most High! Cherubic Hymn from the Liturgy of St James Versified by Gerard Moultrie (1829-1885)

Here is bread, here is wine,

50

Christ is with us – He is with us;

break the bread, drink the wine –

Christ is with us here.

Here is grace, here is peace, Christ is with us – He is with us;

know His grace, find His peace –

feast on Jesus here.

In this bread there is healing,

in this cup there’s life for ever;

in this moment, by the Spirit

Christ is with us here.

Here we are, joined in one,

Christ is with us – He is with us;

We’ll proclaim, ’til He comes –

Jesus crucified.

Be still, for the presence of the Lord, the Holy One, is here;

come bow before Him now

with reverence and fear: in Him no sin is found –

we stand on holy ground.

Be still, for the presence of the Lord, the Holy One, is here.

Be still, for the glory of the Lord is shining all around;

He burns with holy fire, with splendour He is crowned:

how awesome is the sight –

our radiant King of light!

Be still, for the glory of the Lord is shining all around.

Be still, for the power of the Lord is moving in this place:

He comes to cleanse and heal,

51

to minister His grace –

no work too hard for Him.

In faith receive from Him.

Be still, for the power of the Lord is moving in this place.
