Our Christian Cornerstone

Bible Lessons For This Week:

The theme Patiently wait for God’s time and purpose begins with the lesson of God’s Peo-ple Return Home, where students learn how God delivered the Israelites from 70 years of exile and helped them rebuild the temple and city wall. God promises to deliver us from all our troubles—but in His own time. Just as the Israelites waited 70 years for deliverance, God may have us wait patiently for His help. But help us He will. His Word promises it.

In the next lesson, Job, God allowed many troubles to come to Job; he lost his ten children, all his livestock and his servants—all

in one day. Then he became sick, his body covered with painful sores. Job wished that he had never been born. But he never lost his faith in God! Yes, he complained, but he also submitted to God’s will. Our lives are filled with suffering, too. Contrary to what some may believe, we don’t have any less suffering because we are Christians. But we do have the assurance that God will use every suffering for our good and that He will deliver us from our troubles at the proper time. Always remember, 1

Peter 5:7, “Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.” God is with us always.

2017-18 Enrollment Open! All current RLS families should’ve received an email and a link to begin the online enrollment process for next year. If you’re planning to NOT return, there’s a spot at the very beginning to indicate that, too. Please take a few moments now and do that, please. If you know of a NEW family interested in Christian Education, please share this link with them: http://mytads.com/a/resurrectionrochester

Hot Lunch Reminder Statements are sent more often as we approach the end of the year. If you know which days your child will be eating hot lunch, count those days & multiply by $2.50 or $2.70 to carry through to the end of the year. Funds left in your family account will carry over to next year. Checks can be dropped off in the office as usual. Thank you!

Summer Childcare Option Our school childcare program, ESCaPE, and preschool Extended Care isn’t offered once school dismisses on June 2. If your chil-dren need care over the summer you have several options.

We recently compiled a Babysitter List with names of young people from our church or school who are available. The list can be picked up in the school office (it is NOT available digitally for privacy reasons).

Also, Rochester Public Schools and Community Service offers a summer childcare program. For more info, check out their website: http://www.rochesterce.org/sacc

Registration for Camp Whitewater Children going into 3rd- 8th grade next year are encouraged to attend Camp Whitewater (a group camp for young members of the WELS). Campers can choose to attend Week 1 (July 9-14) or Week 2 (July 16-21).

Cost is $150 for the week. A $75 deposit is due upon registration. Camps fill quickly, so get your registration in early.

Registration forms are available at www.campwhitewater.org .

SCLHS Summer Camps Check out the St. Croix Lutheran High School website for more info on the many camps they host during the summer months for various grade levels.

Flu Clinic ~ Fall 2017 RLS has partnered with your child’s clinic to provide the flu vaccine at school. This is a convenient way to keep your children, our school and community healthy throughout the year.

What’s new? There is a FIXED registration period this year beginning online on Aug 9th and ending on Sept 13th (midnight). No registration forms will be accepted after midnight on Sept 13.

What else do I need to know?

Registration is required. Information and registration is available at http://www.semnic.org/schoolfluclinics.aspx. Online registration is preferred. Paper forms will be available at the school and meet-the-teacher events (Back to School Picnic, Aug 24 & Orientation, Aug 29) Only the flu shot is available this year. Non-medication pain reducing options will be offered. Your health insurance will be billed just like it is in your clinic. Your child can get the vaccine free if you don’t have insurance. Please make sure your child wears clothing that allows access to the upper arm.

Can You Help? The Scrip Committee is looking for a few more helpers to sell gift cards at the churches this sum-mer. They will train you (it’s pretty easy!), and it’ll be fun! Please email them at [email protected] for more info and to set up a training time. Scrip helps pay a portion of your (or a grand-child’s) tuition, helps underwrite the cost of non-budgeted expenses (like buses for field trips, equipment and activities).
