Brunswick, NJ. Tom holds a BA

    in Accounting from St Peter's

    College in Jersey City.

Martino is a quiet man, but

    dont be fooled.

He is a true businessman and

    very effectively involved on the

state and national levels of the

    bowling industry. Having

    served as New Jersey Bowling

    Proprietors Association (BPA)

    President for 5 years, North

    Jersey BPA Vice President for

Tom Martino was presented the MBWA

William Landgraf award by the Dean of

    bowling writers Chuck Pezzano.

Chris Ziesig and Robert Bader LIGBT ChampionsLEVITTOWN, NY - The

    LIGBT crowned two new

    champions; Chris Ziesig of

    Hicksville, NY won the

    scratch title and $1,000

while Robert Bader ofHoltsville, NY won the 210

    & under handicap title and

    $500. A total of 99 bowlers

    competed for more than

    $8,000 in prize money.

    It was pretty evident

    early on that Chris Ziesig

was going to have a good

    day. Starting with a 279

    first game and never look-

ing back. He was the 49 &

    under squad leader which

    seeded Chris directly into

the Championship Shootout. In his only game in the

finals Chris rolled a 257 and beat out the Senior

Champion, George Mottern ($600) of Riverhead by 3

pins. Chris doubled in the tenth frame to force

George to do the same but a split on his second ball

    gave Chris the title.

Finishing third was Brian Soto of Kew Gardens

with a 247 game that earned him $400. Rounding out

the shootout and finishing fourth was John Conroy of

    Mahopac with a 187 earning him $300.

The 210 and under final shootout was fun to watch

    with an unlikely outcome.

Two of the finalists in the 210 and under were for-

mer LIGBT Champions (Preston Cheeks and Cary

Fishman) going against Robert Bader who had yet towin an LIGBT event. That didnt seem to bother

Robert as he crushed the two former champions by

more than 30 pins, pitching a 238 game, to take the

title. Preston Cheeks (207) of Brooklyn earned $300

for his second place finish and Cary Fishman of

Manhattan (203) earn $200 for third place.

Landau Twins, Andresen, RollinsHot at Holiday

    By Vince Albrecht

Oakland, NJ Nothing like a pin-friendly house to snap fine young

bowlers from earlier below-average outings in the Stan Niemiec Youth

Travel League. Holiday Bowl provided the venue for the strong come-

backs of all seven 600+ performers in Sunday afternoons matchups.

Ryan Landau led the onslaught with 246-236-693 while his brother

Kyle added 257-225-677. Even so, their combined efforts werent

enough to keep Holiday Bowl II from dropping two close games to Fair

Lawn II, largely due to 13-year-old Jake Rollins explosive 257 in the

finale. Jake, who added a 219 as part of his 654 threesome, had ample

support from anchor Jaylin Floyds 235-618.

Elsewhere, having acknowledged that he had somewhat been in a funk

the first three weeks, 17-year-old Rob Andresen capped a 681 set with

the days best single, a 269; only a buried tenth frame stone 7-pin keptRob from possibly going out the door with a 290. Teammates Rachel

Kammen and Kevin Macchia came through with 199 and 192 respec-

tively as Holiday I earned seven points for its first match win of the sea-

    son.

Isiah Tolbert had a 208 and 14-year-old Deandre Lightly bounced back

with a 210 as Fair Lawn I leapfrogged from fourth to first place by

sweeping Bowler City whose best came from Ray Geller 225,202 and

Stacy Fernandez 213. Rounding out the afternoons action, Montvale II

came from behind to stop rival Montvale I, 5-2. Leading the victors was

14-year-old Bobby McCarthy totaling 231,201-613, young Matt Hauser

adding 208 and anchor Bryan Kist a 202. Montvale I had stellar efforts

from Ryan Cauwels 228-201-620 and Brian Galbraith 247-590. When

the smoke cleared at Holiday, fourteen bowlers had combined for 22

deuces, significantly changing the high score leader-board.
