End Of Semester 1

Thankyou! Thankyou! Thankyou!

Throughout Semester 1, parent understanding, support and appreciation have helped to make the best of a very challenging situation.

As a staff we have had to work very hard and very differently and this has created unique challenges for us all. Having the support and backing of parents has certainly made a difference.

On behalf of the staff from Bargara State School – Thanks!

School Camps

The latest operating guidelines for schools was released this week and there are complications and restrictions for camps moving

forward.

I do need to confirm that there will not be a Year 4 camp this year.

The Environmental Education Centre that we visit for our Year 5 camp is a school site that is owned by the Department. They are

currently working through the new guidelines to work out how camps will recommence in Semester 2. We are planning with the

perspective that the camp will go ahead. Keep your fingers crossed. Year 6 and Year 3 camp are still a fair distance away.

We will operate these camps under the guidelines that are in play at the time. We hope that restrictions will continue to be relaxed and the camps will play out as normal.

Athletics carnival – Change of date to allow more spectators

I love watching the children cross the finish line on sports day and then seeing them turn to see their parents smiling and clapping.

I love watching the parents cheering their children on as they run their race or play ball games.

Our challenge is to make this happen!

I had rescheduled our sports days to be in week 3 because the information I had received, had tentatively placed the

Bundaberg carnival in week 5. I am now hearing that ‘IF’ the Bundaberg Carnival goes ahead, it is likely to be in term 4.

This means we have the opportunity to move our sports days out to a time where there are less restrictions on adults in our school and we are more likely to be able to celebrate our students efforts together.

I know that some parents have already asked for the ‘day off’ in week 3 and that changing this day may provide some challenge.

I apologise for this but I am trying to ensure that every parent has the opportunity to see their child race.

I will refrain from setting a firm date until ‘School Sport’ has sent through their final confirmations.

School Opinion Survey

Parents and Caregivers are invited to participate in this year’s School Opinion Survey and have a say about schooling during the

COVID-19 lockdown. You are also given the opportunity to provide feedback about our school more generally.

Participation in the survey is anonymous and you are encouraged to take this opportunity to have your say. The survey form has been designed so that it can easily be completed on a computer or smartphone. The online survey will be available until Friday, 17 July 2020, and should take less than five minutes to complete.
