Level 3 and 4 Hoop Time

Last week on Thursday Deepdene sent three junior basketball teams to Nunawading Stadium to participate in the 2017 Hoop Time Tournament. All teams had been training very hard at lunch times leading up to the tournament and came into the event with great confidence. All teams played well with one of the All Star girl’s teams making it to the semi-finals. The All Star boy’s team had more of a challenge with a couple of vital players being away on the day, unfortunately there weren’t able to pull off a win but did come very close.

A huge thank you to the parents involved who gave up their time to coach, score and transport the students to and from the event. All in all it was a hectic, but great day of basketball!

“Sex, Drugs & Rock n’ Roll”

Managing those tricky questions &

awkward moments with your primary-aged child.

You are invited to join us for a presentation which aims to provide parents with practical, age-

appropriate strategies for dealing with the questions that our youngsters continue to ask about the

more intimate details of life.

This presentation which is of one hour’s duration including question time, will be held in the

Deepdene Primary School hall from 7 – 8pm on Thursday 24th of August.

The presenter, Marion Church, is a Health and Well Being educator, and creator and facilitator of

Bodyworks Primary Health Education,

With over 35 years of teaching and mentoring experience, working with children in primary and

secondary years, and their parents, Marion brings a wealth of knowledge, and down to earth

practical suggestions which may offer valuable guidance to parents, in a very relaxed, enjoyable

and informative manner.

“Children are naturally curious creatures. Every parent wants to be able to guide their child safely and

securely through the developing years. Yet every generation parents in a foreign landscape. Your

experiences as a child are not your children’s experiences, nor were they for previous generations

before yours. Change is ever present, and the speed of change is constantly increasing.

In the age of modern technology our access to information is immediate. The information available in

the areas of body awareness, puberty, emerging sexuality and relationships, may vary from being

educationally beneficial, intriguing, inappropriate or even, alarming.

Encourage your young children to come to you as their first source of information. Then take the

journey of enquiry together, with technology as a resource, not a replacement.”

The entrance fee of a $5 will be donated to Deepdene Primary School Library resources.

NAME: _____________________________________________ Child:______________________Class: _________

I/We will be attending the information evening on 24th August at 7pm in the hall.

We enclose $5 registration fee.
