What is the Breitling Jet Team?

Based in Dijon, France, the Breitling Jet Team is the largest civilian flight team that performs on jets. The team is made up of seven L-39 Albatross jets, that can reach speeds of up to 565 mph. !The team has earned a reputation for wild, flamboyant aerobatic displays that require an inordinate amount of precision, speed and audacity. Every year, they perform around 50 demonstrations across Europe and various events.

What were they doing in New York?

This is one leg of Breitling’s 2015 North American tour. Over Memorial Day Weekend, Breitling performed at New York’s Bethpage Airshow at Jones Beach, and flew around some of the city’s most well-known landmarks, including the Statue of Liberty and the World Trade Center. !This marks the team’s first ever North American tour to New York City.

As part of a promotion, they stopped in Times Square with a full-size L-39C Albatros Jet.

What’s next?

The Breitling Jet Team will be performing nearly 20 shows across the US and Canada through October of this year. Upcoming cities include Ocean City, Maryland, and Dayton, Ohio.
