FROM YOUR LODGE SECRETARY

Hello to All!

I can't believe we are almost into June already. Where has this year gone?? As always, there is a lot going on at the Lodge. Please keep the date of Flag Day, June 11th at the Veterans Home in Yountville. This is always a very impressive program and an enjoyable day. Try to attend!!

At our last Lodge meeting on Wednesday, May 4th, we initiated six new members: Richard Paulson, Jaret Paulson, Michael Venning, Mark Phillips, Kristy Taylor and Jennifer Preciado. We hope they will all get involved at the Lodge.

At this writing, there are still 60 members who have not sent in their dues for this year 2016 -2017. Please send in your dues ASAP! Your Lodge cannot function without the support of all the members.

Please don't hesitate to let me know of your concerns.

Fraternally,

Judy Fisher - Napa Lodge #832 Secretary

AS LONG AS THERE ARE VETERANS, THE BPOE WILL NEVER FORGET THEM

The Past Exalted Rulers of Napa Elks Lodge along with the lodge Veterans Service Committee are developing a

“Veteran’s Wall of Honor” in front of the Lodge beneath the Gold Elk west wall.

The “Wall of Honor”, a project conceived by PER George “Bus” Langdon will feature plaques with service veteran’s

names, branch of service and service assignment(s). Friends or family members of deceased veterans may secure an

application to be submitted in honor of their loved ones. The cost is $50 per plaque.

This project is dedicated to honoring those who have served to protect their country in a “public” way. Elks members,

visitors to the lodge and others will be able to view and pay tribute to those who served.

APPLICATIONS ARE AVAILABLE IN THE OFFICE FOR THOSE WISHING TO PARTICIPATE

Activities Report June 2016

Beach Boy's Birthday: "Good, good, good, vibrations" “California Girls"&”Little Deuce Coupe" were just a few of the songs that we danced to on April 29th. The music was provided by DJ Joe Geremia from the Jay Silverheels band. We also celebrated 7 April birthdays. This event was well attended! I think the head count was around 120ish. The menu for the evening started with tasty appetizers then it was the regular Friday Night BBQ with choices of steak, chicken or salads, followed by two large birthday cakes. Many thanks going to Dave Bridges for hosting , cooking the chickens and steaks and Dave Mellow for cooking steaks and volunteering, Sholly for being our cashier for the evening, Judy, Len, Christy, Katie and my hubby Dave for all their help. There were many folks in beach wear, I saw some Tommy Brahmas shirts, coconut bras and flowering shirts and skirts. We played Beach Boy Trivia with folks winning raffle tickets or small bottles of Rum. Finishing the evening was a Beach Ball volley, which got a little crazy. My thanks to all members for attending and supporting this event.

"We had Fun, Fun, Fun til Daddy took the T-Bird Away."

Kentucky Derby Day: May 7th was The Running of the Roses at the Elks. Chili and Hot Dogs were

on the menu, great cocktails, but not many Mint Juleps. Some of our ladies wore their large colorful hats for this occasion. Thank you Jeff Howden for bartending!

Mother's Day Blossoms, Bubbles and Brunch: The officers of the Elks started this day with the very meaningful Elk's Mother's Day ritual. Bouquets of multicolored tulips & hummingbirds were the centerpieces, and little hummingbirds wearing hats decorated the placemats. The tulips were beautiful many thanks to the McFarland's for the flowers. All the food for the brunch was delicious more thanks to Sabine and kitchen staff. The champagne and mimosas (as always) were a big hit. And we all enjoyed the smooth afternoon jazz by saxophonists Kevin Frazier. My thanks also to our all gentlemen buffet servers, Dave Silveira, Jimmy Day, Roy White and Len Fisher. All the Mom's appreciated your volunteering - thanks guys.

Save the Dates in June: Flag Day: Will be held at the Veterans Home in Yountville on June 11th.Please see flyer.

Father's Day BBQ: June 17th at 6:00 in the Club Room. Free glass of wine or a beer for Dads!

Burgers & Bocce: Wednesday Night dinner on June 29th, will be Burgers in the Club Room. A note from Lodge Activities: Please note our new tribute to our Vets and

Servicemen

Red on Fridays As most of you know as ELKs we support our Veterans and our Troops. Not sure

if you know but there has been a movement to encourage folks to wear RED on

Fridays in support of our troops and for our troops who are deployed. If you

come to the lodge on a Friday please wear RED, it can be a t-shirt, a hat, shoes,

socks, or something with the flag on it..... You chose. We thank all veterans for

their service. And for our deployed servicemen.... We wear RED

"Until they all come home."

THE ELKS EAR

Your Lodge officers have just returned from the CHEA State Convention which was held in Anaheim. The hardest

part was surviving the drive home! It was bumper to bumper traffic all traveling at least 80 miles per hour. The

Purple Pig Walk with all the lodges in California and Hawaii, presented the money that was collected from last

year. Our Lodge contribution was over $9,000. When you see what this money does for children with disabilities

you should be very proud to have helped.

Hey Cyndi, our entry into the Best Bulletin Contest won 2nd place for our division for all of California and

Hawaii. We received a great award and it is going in your office! Great job!!

The roof replacement will start this June, so put your name in if you want a bucket. The Gazebo project is in full

swing and will require some volunteers, so roll up your sleeves and get the liniment ready!! You can also sign up to

provide a plant for the landscaping. Our E.R. is handling the layout. Please don't be shy, ask what you can

do. There are also many committees that need volunteers. This is the best way to see how your Lodge works.
