The Holiday Season has come and gone and it has been a very busy one with all the catered parties and Lodge events. It has kept our Lodge staff and Activities Committee going consistently. Thank you all for a great holiday season. I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas and I wish you a Happy New Year! I with all of you are looking forward to another great year (2015) at Napa Elks Lodge #832. As some of you have probably heard, Dwayne Hassenplug has retired as our Bar Manager. I, along with all of you want to say THANK YOU for all the years of service and dedication to this Lodge. Dwayne is still our RV park host and security officer for our Lodge. Thank you again Dwayne for all that you do.

As always, I am here to help the members in any way I can. Please let me know if you have any concerns and I will do my best to help. Have a great and prosperous New Year!

The Great Northwest District held
their annual recognition dinner at this
Lodge for the veterans from the
California Veteran's Home in
Yountville on 12/5/14. A contingent of
approximately 75 veterans and staff
from the Vet's Home joined an equal
number of local Elks and Elks
dignitaries for an evening of dinner and
expressed thanks for the honorable
and unselfish service by the veterans.
Local Boy Scout Troop 832, which is
sponsored by this Lodge, started the
evening with a crisp "presentation of
colors" and then helped serve dinner.
This was a memorable night for the
veterans in attendance, and a great way
for the young Scouts to keep a newer
generation connected with the service
and sacrifice of a previous generation.

Activities Report for Dec. and January 2014-15
Happy New Year!! Hopefully everyone had a good holiday season. Events and Activities Meeting: Was held on Dec. 4th, a nice turnout, I am happy to see members attend with thoughtful insight and ideas for this coming year’s events. New Year's Eve was discussed and Marilyn and committee are on track for this Gala. Crab Feed issues were discussed, sadly we will need to raise the cost of the Crab Feed to $55.00 we got caught in a crab crunch. A list is posted on the bulletin board to let members know where they will be volunteering and for those who would like to sign up. Great pot luck appetizers, thanks everyone. District Veteran's Christmas Dinner: December 5th was the date for this dinner. Approximately 170 joined in for dinner. Veterans from the Veteran's Home in Yountville, along with other Veterans, were welcomed by Elk members from Vacaville, Petaluma, San Rafael, and Napa lodges. A delicious dinner was served starting with split pea soup and followed up by Salisbury steak. Many thanks to our Boy Scout troop #832 they did a fantastic job presenting the colors, serving and clean up. Also, more thanks to our lodge volunteers, this dinner is a lot of work, we are grateful for all the help we can get. The centerpieces by Vivian McFarland as always, were beautiful. Elk's Memorial Sunday: The first Sunday in December is set aside for this Ritual. We take time to remember our Elk members who have passed. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families. Monica prepared a delightful brunch and we had time to enjoy and share the morning with family members and friends. Children's Christmas Party: On December 10, 2014, our lodge members and staff brought and wrapped 40 gifts for our lodge children and the children from PartentsCan, gift cards, piggy banks and children's DVD's were also donated for this event. Our lodge members are very generous and the children benefit from the kindness of our members and staff, and more thanks to the Girl Scout troop #260026. Through the years #832 has been very blessed to have fanatic Santa's, starting with Santa Bob, Santa Dave and this year was Santa Cal. Santa Cal was very welcoming to the little ones and they all loved him and their gifts, Mrs. Santa (Shelia) was also on hand to give Santa some help and take over Candy Cane duties. The Children also enjoyed the Therapy Dogs, Miss Elf the Face Painter, Crafts, handmade knitted hats, Candy Cane Punch, pasta dinner and Christmas cookies. Our Debbie led the group of over 100+adults and children in a Christmas sing along. I saw a lot of smiles, laughter and Christmas cheer at this 2014 successful event. Thank you all very much and Good Job #832! Member's Christmas Party: 12/16/15 was our Holiday Cheer Party, and we had a lot of cheer. The evening started out with Egg Nog & Brandy, then the delicious appetizers prepared by our kitchen staff. Christmas music and other saxophone tunes were provided by Kevin Frazier, and we were all treated to a lot of Sugar Plums and desserts from members. We enjoyed all kinds of desserts from cakes, cookies, pears in wine sauces just to mention a few. We had some Merry Christmas birthdays we celebrated....Happy birthday to Tom, Shelia and Bob. This was a Merry event.
