GUIDELINES

The class was put into groups and we had to choose a song to make a music video for. We had to ensure that the song didn’t already have a music video and that it wasn’t by a well known artist.

In our group we thought of songs that we know that had no music video already. We found that a lot of the music that we could think of was from films and trailers. We listened to a few different pieces of music and decided what type of video we wanted to make.

BRIEF IDEAS

We wanted our music video to be different and not a generic performance video. As a group we decided that we wanted to make concept video. We found that the music that we had found would best suit this type of video.

We want our video to feature a lot of artistic and strange images that string together to represent what the music is about and how it makes us feel. This is just a brief idea which we think would be interesting to do and it would be different to most music videos.

We came down to three pieces of music which we all think will be suitable for this type of video.

WHITE LIGHT – GORILLAZ

I think this song had a lot of potential for a strange and artistic music video. I think this piece of music is odd and would be well accompanied by a strange yet artistic video.

Although I do think it would be difficult to create the different shots that would go with the themes of this song. There would also need to be many shots to go with the fast paced music.

SEASON OF THE WITCH - DONOVAN

I thought this song would really suit an artistic music video with strange and imaginative visuals. The music is strange and also old which makes it different to most recent music. It has some good themes that could be played on in the video.

Some people may not like this kind of music video and not understand what they are looking at. This type of song may also be too old for the visuals we would like to use.

HOOKED ON A FEELING – BLUE SWEDE

I heard this song quite a while ago and noticed it didn’t have a music video. I then thought about possible videos that it would suit. I think that it would most suit an concept video which we are planning to carry out. The problem is that we couldn’t see what types of shots we would use or what kind of pace we would use for the shots. This song is also new and receiving popularity due to it being featured in the new Guardians of the Galaxy movie.
