Equip yourself for effective ministry at Pathways.

Churches looking for new ideas, networking opportunities and practical, quality training for their pastors, parishioners, staff and leaders need look no further than this year’s Pathways leadership training event. Scheduled for Saturday, August 24, 2019 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Warner Robins, the training event will offer participants more than 30 workshops to choose from, each designed to help congregations become healthier and to fulfill the mission of making disciples of Jesus Christ. The event will begin with a time of worship and gathering time around creativity in ministry.

The training, which starts at 9:30 a.m. and lasts until 4:00 p.m., features workshops on a variety of subjects, from children and youth-focused workshops to spiritual discipline workshops to those focused on missions and outreach. The design team urges local church leaders to carpool to the event to minimize travel costs and to maximize the benefits of the day by continuing the learning conversation during the return trip. The conference cost $25 per person. A boxed lunch from Chick-fil-A is included in the registration fee. Safe Sanctuaries compliant childcare is available for newborn to fifth-grade children at a cost of $10 per child which covers the cost of their lunch. Pre-registration is required for childcare. .5 CEU credits are available for this event.

Small Group Study Led by Matt Woodbery

“Making Sense of the Bible” by Adam Hamilton Wednesdays - August 28 – October 23

6:15 p.m. – Becomers Class In “Making Sense of the Bible” by Adam Hamilton we are invited into an honest conversation about the Bible. The

book begins with foundational questions such as: How and when was the Bible written? Who decided which books made it into the scriptures and why? How literally

must we read it? And, Is the Bible ever wrong?

From there, Hamilton considers the real questions people frequently ask that continue to divide Christians and

denominations alike, including: Were Adam and Eve real people? Why is God so violent in the Old Testament?

Why would Paul command women to “keep silent in the church”? Is the Book of Revelation a guide to the End

Times?

In approachable and inviting language, Hamilton addresses these often misunderstood biblical themes leading readers to a deeper appreciation of the Bible so that we might hear

God speak through it and find its words to be life-changing and life-giving.
