MULBERRY STREET UNITED METHODIST CHURCH November 4, 2018 www.mulberrymethodist.org This coming Sunday, November 4, is All Saints Day, a special day in the life of this and many protestant churches around the world. On this day, we celebrate and remember those “saints” in our church family who have finished their earthly journey during the past year. The saints listed below are special to us, to their families and friends. As you look over the list, you’ll remember them for the impact they had on you, on others and on this church. If one of these is your loved one, you can count on the rest of us to stand with you, to love you and to thank God with you for your “saint” as we worship together this Sunday. We hope you all will join us for worship at 9:00 am (chapel) or 11:00 am (sanctuary). We pray that we will be renewed, strengthened and encouraged by the music, liturgy and message of hope as we remember these dear saints. Emily Parker November 2, 2017 Charles R. All Saints’ Surprise for Children’s Church

Parents, please make sure your 4K/5K kids

are in worship at 11:00 am on November 4

because we have a special Children’s

Church planned for All Saints’ Day. It’s a

surprise for them (shh!!!), but when the

kids exit worship we’ll begin a walking

tour inside the church to hear about

Mulberry’s very own saints. Many thanks

to Carolyn Dominy, Church Historian, for

sharing fascinating information to mark

this occasion; 1st and 2nd graders (“big

kids”) are welcome, too!

To Leslie Walton and family upon the death

of her husband, Eugene “Buzz” Walton of

Helena, MT on Sunday, October 21, 2018.

Advent Study

You are invited to an Advent Study Series at Noon on Wednesdays, November 28, December 5, 12 & 19 in the Parlor. We invite you to bring your own

lunch and grow with us! We will use the resource A Thrill of Hope: The

Christmas Story in Word and Art. This DVD-based study presents the familiar story of Christmas as told in the gospels of Matthew and Luke. Each

scripture passage is illustrated and interpreted in the stunning artwork of John August Swanson along with commentary by some of America’s premier Biblical scholars, names such as Dr. Thomas A. Long, Dr. Michael Joseph Brown,

Dr. Carol A. Newsom and more.

Please R.S.V.P. to Rev. Jeff Cook at [email protected] or call 745-8601. The cost for the study is $5.00, which includes

Hurricane Michael Response Many residents of the Florida Panhandle, and Southwest Georgia are reeling, their homes and communities damaged by Hurricane Michael. As we continue to pray for those affected by this storm, here’s what you need to know now:

Financial Donations Monetary gifts will be extremely important as we respond to the affected areas. There are several ways to make a donation for disaster response relief. To aid with disasters within those Annual Conferences affected by Michael, your financial gifts can be made through your local church’s offering or by sending a financial gift through the Conference Teasurer’s Office earmarked Advance Special #6796 – South Georgia Storm Recovery. The address is PO Box 13145, Macon, GA 31208.

Cleaning Kits UMCOR cleaning kits (flood buckets) will be needed in the weeks and months ahead. Instructions can be found at www.umcor.org. There are several drop-off locations throughout the conference through the end of October.

Washing Machine Needed We have a need in the church for a washing machine.

If you have one that you could donate, please contact the church office, 745-8601.
