AWESOME ARTS EXCURSION

The Year 6 and Year 2 classes attended the Awesome Arts Festival last week. Here are a selection of photos and written recounts of the day. Last week on Tuesday at school I grab my hat and bag and go for an excursion to Perth (on the tall bus). I went to see the Awesome Arts Festival and shows called “Hachiko” and “Kaput”. All of the kids sat down and waited for others. We had recess. When recess was over we went to the tent and all the people sat down and started to enjoy the show. The show was so sad about this story about Hachiko. We went out for a long walk and came back to have lunch. We watched another show. It was a really (2x) funny show. It was about “Kaput”. At the end of the day we went back on the bus and back to school and went home. By Hemi On Tuesday Year 5/6 and Year 2 all went on the bus to ands Awesome Festival 2012. I enjoyed the play called “The Love Story” by Kaput. Tom was funny when he climbed up the ladder and fell off with the water bucket on his head, we all laughed. By Fletcher On the first day of school my class went to the Awesome Art Festival 2012. We watched Hachiko. It was very sad. It was about a dog whose master died. The other show. The mans name was Tom Flanagan. He was a comedian. He did lots of funny things. It was lots of fun. By Cherie

This piano was decorated by students from Mosman Park Schools as part of the Awesome Arts Festival activities.

SCHOOL CHARGES AND CONTRIBUTIONS

Statements were sent out recently to parents who still have outstanding school charges. Please ensure that these charges are paid promptly. There are a number of accounts the school must pay to outside organisations for excursions, Kidz ‘n Sport, swimming lessons etc. and without your contribution, the school is left having to meet the shortfall. This in turn leaves less funds to spend at school level on all the students.

Many thanks to all of the families who participated in the end of term free dress day. Your donations for Rabbit Rescue totalled nearly $200. Andrea Palmer

Our artist in residence, Paula Hart, has started at our school and some exciting things have been happening. Students have been doing drawings of native fauna and self-portraits, the staff participated in a ‘junk bugs’ workshop and work has begun on the murals in the under-covered area. We are very fortunate to have Paula at our school from Tuesday to Friday each week, and there are lots of exciting art adventures planned for the term. Your teacher will be able to tell you what day your child will be working with Paula. If you would like to help out during the term with any of the activities please contact Emma Greenland on 0439 407 056. If you have any large pieces of cardboard or packing boxes that you are happy to donate, please bring them in and leave them outside the storeroom under Mrs Fraser’s class. Remember to ensure your child wears old shoes and has a painting smock on art days. We hope everyone is enjoying this fantastic experience.

Come along to our “Cash for Containers” event at Cottesloe Beach on 25th November 2012 from 11am - 3pm , to Recycle and fundraise. Get a re-fund on any container with the 10c Refund in SA Label. Show your support for a Cash for Containers scheme in Western Australia. Schools and Community groups welcome. Maxi-mum $10 refund per person or $100 refund per school or community group. OR Mosman Park Primary School will have yellow bins placed outside the Computer Lab next week. You can send in any clean empty

containers that display the “get 10c refund”.

UNIFORM SHOP

Hi Parents/Carers, Welcome back to the final school term for the year … wow how time flies when we are having so much fun! Hope your holidays were enjoyable. This is our final week to collect items for the Operation Christmas Child Shoebox appeal. Thanks to everyone who has already donated items or a box for a child. Thanks also to five year 3 boys … Oscar, Jasper, James, Henry, and Charlie for donating the money they made from the lemonade stall they had during the holidays, to be used to send the shoeboxes overseas to children in 3rd world countries. What a great example of community spirit and compassion for others less fortunate. These boys are kids with character demonstrating learned family values as well as attitudes encouraged by the school based program ‘You Can Do It’. Thanks boys! If you would still like to donate towards these shoeboxes please have them into my office by the end of the day on Monday 29th Oct or you can take them straight to the warehouse in Ledger St, Balcatta. If any child is interested in participating in Chess Tournaments please see me for the details of the next event which is being held in November. If you have any concerns about your child at school or at home, I am here on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays between 8.30am and 3.30pm. I am happy for you to pop in for an informal chat or you can contact me on the details below if you prefer to make a time to meet and discuss a situation.
