The Technology Learning Center at North Stafford High school is a 21st century learning space. The center is designed to foster collaboration between students, teachers, and the global community while also serving as a testing ground for new and exciting instructional practices.

Security

The center is to be locked at all times when it is not being used

Three items to lock Main door iPad cart Equipment storage cabinet

Keys can be found in the main office Pick up before your reservation, drop off afterwards

Security

All equipment should remain in the Technology Learning Center at all times Students should not be traveling around the building

with the iPads or other devices

Closing Procedures Plug in the iPads and lock the cart Return all of the peripheral devices to the storage

cabinet and lock (Do not forget to disconnect and lock up the laptop)

Re-arrange the furniture as needed Lock the door Return the keys to the main office

Furniture

Room includes 15 standard tables 30 chairs 4 café tables 8 café chairs

Furniture is designed to be arranged based on your needs

No set furniture arrangement Please be considerate of others and do not leave the

furniture in complete disarray

iPad Cart

Should remain plugged in, turned on, and attached to the wall at all times.

Contains 30 iPad mini devices Each device is numbered

and has a corresponding numbered slot in the cart

All iPads should be placed in the correct slot and plugged in when not in use

Indicator lights on the top and back indicate if iPads are plugged in. Amber = charging Green = fully charged

Check to make sure all devices are plugged in and charging or charged

You are in charge of handing out the iPadsDo not have students remove the iPads from

the cart.iPads do not have an official SCPS login

iPad Care

Carry devices with two handsDevices should remain in the cases at all

timesNothing should be installed on the devices

Includes materials from iTunes, apps store, and iBooks

Volume should be kept at a minimal level Personal headphones may be plugged inIf you would like a specific app installed on the iPads contact your ITRT at least two business days prior to your visit.

Clearing Data

At the end of each session all images and pictures should be cleared from each iPad This is critical to ensure that personal materials and

pictures are not accessible by other users

Clearing Data

1. From the main screen click on photos

2. Click on camera roll3. Click the edit button4. Select all the pictures

by clicking each one. A blue check appears on each picture

5. Click the red delete button

6. The camera roll should be empty

How to Connect to the AppleTV

AppleTV is used to wirelessly project your iPad screen onto the projection screen All of the iPads can be instantly thrown to the screen

in secondsImportant note

Any student can take control of the screen at any point by entering the onscreen code

Make the students aware of this so that they do not interrupt a presentation with their own screen

How to Connect to the AppleTV

1. Ensure that the Epson projector, and iPad are turned on

2. On the projector remote press the source search button and ensure that the source is set to HDMI

3. Swipe from the bottom of the screen up to reveal an access menu

4. Click the airplay icon

How to Connect to the Apple TV

4. Select the name of the AppleTV (TLC Projector)

5. Enter the code that appears on the projection screen

6. Move the slider so that mirroring is on (green)

7. To disconnect from the Apple TV, turn mirroring off

How to Connect the Laptop to the Projection Screen

1. On the podium locate the aver media box. It should remain off.

2. Connect the blue VGA cable from the aver media box to the laptop.

3. Plug in the audio cable if you require sound

4. Power on the laptop and projector

5. Press the computer button on the remote to get to the right source feed

How to Use: Belkin Multi-headphone Splitter

1. Connect the splitter to an iPad using the headphone jack

2. Connect up to five pairs of headphones to the splitter

3. Optional: You can use one of the additional green cords to connect a second splitter, MP3 player, or other audio device.

How to Use: Lightning to VGA Adapter

The adapter cord is used to connect an iPad directly to the projector. This is an alternative method to using the AppleTV and airplay.

1. Connect the iPad using the lightning adapter end

2. Connect a VGA cord (usually blue) to the adapter and to the wall box leading to the projector

1. If it does not select the video source immediately, use the projector remote to cycle through the source options

How to Use: Presentation Pointers

1. Use one end to control the laser pointer and light

2. Use the other end as a stylus on the iPads

3. Do not remove the cap and use the pen function on the iPads.
