Fundraising:
Our fundraising day at Taree Service Centre is this Sat-
urday. If you haven’t put your name down to help,
please contact Nadine Purdon. We would like the chil-
dren to be a part of this fundraiser by wearing their uni-
form and attending the service centre with you.
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory:
All tickets for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory have
now been sold. Thank you for your support of this ex-
cursion, it should be a busy but exciting day for every-
one. More information will be sent home next week.
Healthy Harold—Life Education Van:
The Life Education Van will be at
our school on Friday. There is no
cost to students for this experi-
ence. I have attached a permission
slip and merchandise order form.
The purchasing of merchandise is
optional. If you have any questions
about Life Education, please see Mrs Wilson.
School Photos:
School photos will be taken on Wednesday, 6th March.
Order envelopes are attached. Sibling photos will be
available. Please ensure full school uniform is worn on
this day. Our photographer this year is Annette Haw-
kins.
Vintage Motor Cycle Club Visit:
The members of the Vintage Motor Cycle Club will be
visiting our school next week on Friday, 1st March.
They will be bringing vintage bikes to display and every-
one is welcome to attend.
The children will be given a free drink and chips. We
will be selling sausage sandwiches with a can of drink
for $5. We will also be running a meat raffle and cake
stall. We are seeking donations for the cake stall and
help from volunteers with the BBQ lunch from
11:30am—1pm. Please see Mrs Wilson if you are able
to assist.
Sesqui-Centenary:
The 150th Celebrations will be here before we know it.
The Sesqui-Centenary committee are collating infor-
mation for a History of Mitchells Island School book and
would appreciate copies of photographs, stories and
recollections from former students/families of the
school. If you have anything to submit, please drop it in
to the school office. We can take copies so you can re-
tain your originals.
The committee will also be selling a Recipe Book and
would welcome submissions of your favourite tried and
true recipes. Please send them in to the office.
Please keep the day, 26th October, free for the this cel-
ebration. We will be asking for volunteers to help with
the BBQ, Cake Stall, parking and activities to make the
day a success.

Tennis: Every Tuesday this term Wayne has been teaching 3 to 6 how to play tennis. The students of 3 to 6 have enjoyed playing tennis with Wayne and playing games with Wayne. Basketball: Lonnie has been teaching the 3-6 how to play basketball. He showed 3-6 some games too and most of all basketball skills. Everyone enjoys Lonnie’s coaching. By Nicola and Darcy.
Visual Learning: Hannah: Some afternoons we get a little book and it is for visual learning. We write what we have learnt that day and it tells Miss Sneddon and ourselves what we have learnt. Emily: Then we have to write about how it relates to what we already know so say if we learnt how to do a difficult math prob-lem or how to play a game. Hannah: We would write a couple of sentences showing what we have done during the day. Emily: This is what visual learning is.
We had to make some Oompa Loompas because we are reading the book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. We got a photo off one of the school files and edited it to make it so it was extremely pale and then we printed it. Then we had to blend the colours from the oil pastels to make it look like it was merging into each other instead of there just being a few col-ours that you could see being changed.
