About the workshop
The Media Lab India Initiative is an effort by students and alumni from the MIT Media Lab to bring together a community of makers and creators across India, and to facilitate collaboration and sharing of ideas across boundaries of disciplines, institutions and culture.
Number of Participants: Around 380 participants were chosen out of around 2,000 applications.

ICICI Future of Banking
This track was about creating technologies to enable banking interactions as our physical and virtual worlds become intertwined, interfaces for the future of transactions over social and mobile networks, and principles that will transform banking in the next decade.

Day 1: Orientation & Field Study
Visited 4 branches of ICICI, Chandiwali- CMS (Cash Management System)- Electronic Branch- Customer Branch- Operations Centre
Interviewed bank officials and Identified the pain points of bankers and customers.

Day 2: Ideation/ Brainstorming
We were divided into 9 teams having 4 members each.
Listed down the observations and pain points on a chart paper and discussed about the same. Some of them were:- Tracking Illegal Currency- Cardless Transactions- Banking for all- Customer Privacy- New age Banks

Based on the interviews and field study, our team defined a problem statement and created scenarios around it.

After defining the problem , we started working on our ideas.
As every team was composed of Designers, Engineers & Management students; we got to understand the problem in different perspectives.

After we completed designing and prototyping, we were asked to document everything on http://buildinprogress.herokuapp.com/home/index
It’s a open source website created by MIT Labs to document the project day wise.
Also, we worked on the branding of our product that had to be presented the next day.

The ‘Open House’ was an exhibition to showcase innovative design prototypes of a weeklong workshop with over 380 participants.
