Principal’s Message What a different world we are living in at the moment. School is a very quiet, lonely place without students. I feel a little lost! Afterall the soul purpose of being a teacher is to ‘teach’ students. We miss you! But know that you are safe at home. And that is the main thing. I realise engaging in learning from home is an extremely different experience and I must thank the families who are doing the hard yards and cracking the whip! Remember, we are all in this together and no question is too silly or odd to ask. And call if you want to have a chat :) Thank you to our staff who have embraced ‘remote’ learning and are undertaking their own learning to be prepared for what may come. The new catch cry is Skype: TEAMS; Zoom: Google Classroom. I will take this opportunity to wish everyone a very happy Easter and I hope the Easter Bunny still can get through all the boarder blocks. Have a restful holiday and try and create some great memories at home. Camp in the backyard, have a camp fire while the weather is beautiful. Find some great new reasons to be home. A new way of learning

‘Socially’ Stand together with ‘physical distancing’: Covid-19

With the recent covid-19, the government has asked for us all to keep our social distance. But what is it that they want? Social Distancing is the term that the government have picked for avoiding: Social distancing in public means people: • stay at home unless is absolutely necessary • keep 1.5 metres away from others • avoid physical greetings such as handshaking, hugs and kisses • use tap and pay instead of cash • avoid public gatherings and at risk groups But why call it social distancing? All of these points advised are for the physical distancing of yourself and others. There are many ways to be social and still physically staying away to stay safe. Here are some suggestions that other communities or people have tried to stay together in these changing times: ●Call friends and family through video chats, e.g. skype or FaceTime. ●Phone calls ●Groups on Facebook… does Kyogle have a community support group? ●Make a group chat on messenger of your family, friends and neighbours. Tips for Parents Establish routines — wake up at the same time as a normal school day, go to bed at the same time. Set a routine to work and then take a break. Stay connected – ensure you and your family are socializing with friends and others online via google hangouts or FaceTime. Stay Active – take the kids out for a walk and breath in the fresh air, take the kids gardening or make an outdoor race course for the toy cars.
