Class Format Our daily schedule consists of a curriculum that encourages personal development & social interaction with both structured & informal learning opportunities.

Free Choice Time Learning stations allow children to choose an educational experience providing opportunity for individual exploration and personal expression, while encouraging active learning.

Carpet Time Social and cooperative skills are integrated, shared in a group setting. New information is introduced through stories, songs, and the introduction of themes.

Physical Activity Children naturally love to move! Gym time, swimming and group games improve gross motor skill development, cooperative play and increase the ability to listen and follow directions in a group setting.

Creative Class work Art & craft projects lead to an un-derstanding of basic math, science and pre-reading concepts, while incorporating fine motor and cognitive skills.

The Matt Dishman Early Childhood Education Program includes our Preschool (3 year olds) and Pre-Kindergarten (4 year olds) classes. These programs run September - May with students typically starting in September. Children must be the proper age by September 1, 2013 to be eligible.

Our program follows a developmental philosophy that children develop and grow at their own rate. To enhance the learning experience, our programs feature learning stations that enable children to explore different areas of development. Occasionally, we have mid-year openings.

For specific information on our preschool program or to register your child, please call Matt Dishman CC at 503-823-3673. The non-refundable materials fee for the 2013-2014 school year is $60, which will be split into two equal $30 payments. The first payment is due at initial registration & will be used to secure your child’s spot for the school year. The second payment is due with the Feb. 2014 monthly tuition payment.

Have you added a Dynamic Dishman Dance Class to your Fitness Routine?

Meet The Instructor! Derrell Walker

Meet The Instructor!Kelly teaches dance and gymnastics classes to students

ages 1- adult at East Portland, Montavilla, and now here at Dishman Community Center. You will also

see her dancing with various groups here in Portland, including Blue Sky Ensemble. Kelly holds a B.F.A in

dance from The University of Montana, where her endeavors included performing at the Kennedy Center in the National American College Dance Festival’s gala

concert with “Prey,” choreographed by Bebe Miller. Her training includes modern, improvisation, ballet,

jazz, gymnastics, yoga, and tap. Kelly’s most recent project is a show of her own choreography, currently in

the rehearsal process. Kelly’s teaching style focuses on individuality (after all, everybody is made differently), and joy in movement, while gaining body awareness.

One of her goals is to help tap into the natural flow in our bodies. Fair warning, she has been known to re-

teach adults how to do cartwheels!

Meet The Instructor!DJ Rayley

“I totally enjoy taking Dj's Hip-Hop class Monday nights at Matt Dishman Community Center. I know that I am always going to leave her class feeling like I've improved as a dancer and that I've worked every muscle in my body. Her class has got to be the best Hip-Hop class I've ever taken.”

- Amber Starks, Conscious Coils, Founder/Owner

“Teach it so they can do it. Break it down. Verbalize it. Demonstrate it, and by all means- never stop encouraging....”

- DJ Rayley, philosophy
