Gympie Cooloola Tourism is your member-based tourism industry organisation. We are not-for-profit and work for the benefit of our members. Our Goal is to promote and support the growth and development of our members through access to industry knowledge and opportunities that will support this progressive region in working towards vibrancy, while empowering businesses to maximise the quality of the visitor experience. The Gympie Cooloola Region is an amazing area full of natural beauty which lies between the Heritage Listed Fraser Island and the Sunshine Coast and incorporates the Great Sandy Biosphere.

From lush green hills that stretch to sandy rainforests, a major river system, perched lakes and a stunning coastline rich in native flora and fauna, the Gympie Cooloola region features a wonderfully diverse blend of coast, country and community.

Beside the mighty Mary River sits the historic city of Gympie which offers the opportunity to experience our rich golden past. To the East you will find the tranquil waters of Tin Can Bay with its famous dolphins and the vast expanses of pristine beaches and coloured sands of Rainbow Beach which make up the Cooloola Coast. Travelling westward takes you through cattle country, horse country and the vineyards of the South Burnett. Mary Valley Country, nestled in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, provides Australia’s last undiscovered natural playground for nature based activities.

With this in mind we have created exciting opportunities for the 2014/15 year with a strong focus on digital marketing and innovative business practices! Gympie Cooloola Sub-Regions The Gympie Cooloola region is home to 5 distinctive areas which provide unique and diverse experiences. We have chosen the following statements as a key branding strategy for each region: Rainbow Beach Enjoy casual beachside ambience with postcard views and some of the most amazing natural attractions in the world. Tin Can Bay Relax in the Water Paradise known as Tin Can Bay, one of the few places in Australia where dolphins can be handfed in their natural environment. Goomeri & Kilkivan Welcome to Country with old world charm, an abundance of green pastures, friendly locals and beautiful historic buildings. Mary Valley Come out to Play in one of the few remaining untouched playgrounds of South East Queensland. Gympie Visit the heart of the region known as Queensland’s Golden City, which boasts majestic historical buildings, unmistakeable country charm and world-class events.

Target Market

All marketing focuses on the consumers a business/ region attracts. The Gympie Cooloola Region has been identified as a hub for attracting Connectors as well as a large portion of Active Explorers and Unwinders.

Connectors see holidays as a chance to connect with the people they care most about.

Active Explorer see holiday to be about pushing their own personal boundaries and feeling alive.

Unwinders see holidays as relaxation and release, focusing on themselves as an escape from their busy lives.

In 2014, GCT will be publishing brochures for Gympie, Mary Valley and Kilkivan/Goomeri. GCT has recently worked with Rainbow Beach and Tin Can Bay by providing maps for their recently produced brochure, therefore GCT will not be producing a Rainbow Beach or Tin Can Bay directory in 2014.
