Wendy Cassera and her company Taxpectations will be entering a 5th year of tax

services in the Grand Strand. Wendy is very passionate about what she does and it is obvious when she begins speaking about taxes and finances. When I ask Wendy what exactly she does her answer is always: "I help entrepreneurs who are struggling with their finances to find simple and easy ways to manage and un-derstand their finances, so that they can make more money". That sounds good to me and it should to all busi-ness owners that need help in these confusing tax times. The point is that once your monthly bookkeeping is done (and yes, Taxpectations offers that service as well), you ask yourself, now what? You have a profit and loss in front of you stating how much money you made and how much you spent, but what do you do with that information? That is a question that Wendy loves to help people figure out the answer to based on their industry, their goals, AND their personality and lifestyle. She says "Yes, you can live a champagne lifestyle on beer money".

The Tax Code is now about four million words, nearly as long as seven versions of War and Peace or the novel version of Les Miserables and just under four times the number of words in all of the Harry Potter books put together. -FORBES MAGAZINE

For this reason, it is important when dealing with taxes, that you find a tax professional that keeps up with the constant changes. Remember, that quote is only for the federal tax code. You still have to worry about the state returns.

These 3 tax-smart moves Could help you pay less

in taxes next year . . .

Feeling like you paid too much in taxes this year?

It’s not too early to make a difference for next tax season.

Here are three tax-saving investment strategies that may

help you keep more of what you’ve earned: 1. Consider tax-free municipal bonds1 for federally tax-free investment income.

2. Contribute to a traditional IRA or 401(k) to lower your taxable income.

3. Contribute or gift to a 529 college savings plan for children or grandchildren.

Let’s work together to find tax-smart strategies that fit your needs.

1 Municipal bonds are exempt from federal income taxes but may be subject to state and local taxes, as well as the Alternative Minimum Tax

(AMT). 2 Contributions may be eligible for a state tax deduction or credit in certain states for those residents. If a distribution is taken but is not used for a qualified expense, the portion of the distribution representing earnings is subject to

ordinary income tax and a 10% federal penalty. Edward Jones, its employees and financial advisors are not estate planners and cannot provide tax

or legal advice. You should consult with a qualified tax specialist or legal advisor for professional advice on your situation.

Wendy prides herself on keeping up with all the latest on the subject of taxes and

finance. In December 2014, she passed the new AFSP certification exam given by the IRS. This certification will allow her to be listed by the IRS on their register listing on the IRS.Gov website. Additionally, Wendy is gaining continuing education credits required to continue to be an ERO (electronic return originator). Wendy is also at-tending all the classes and seminars that will enable her to easily incorporate all of the Affordable Health care stuff into your return this year.

SHOUTMB: How long have you been in the accounting field? Wendy: I took my first job in accounting at the young age of 14. Since then I have

obtained 5 degrees and many certifications. Including the new AFRS certification from the IRS. This test is not only about really knowing the tax world but it also requires me to pass a stringent back-ground check and be bonded to be sure I am a well prepared tax accountant. SHOUTMB: Where are you originally from? Wendy: I grew up in California but the last 25 years I have lived in 13 states. SHOUTMB: What brought you to Myrtle Beach? Wendy: I love the beach and the ocean. In April 2009, I came to Myrtle Beach on vacation and loved the area. SHOUTMB: What makes Taxpectations different from other accounting firms? Wendy: Pride on getting to know clients and customizing the services to meet their specific needs and personalities. SHOUTMB: What made you choose accounting and tax preparation? Wendy: I love taxes!! FUNNY.. When I was 14 and saw my father stressing over taxes and I would invariably wind up doing the family taxes for that year. SHOUTMB: What kind of client is your favorite? Wendy: I like taking the mess from an individual or company and making organized money from it. SHOUTMB: What do you read to keep up-to-date? Wendy: Entrepreneur and Forbes magazines are my favorites. Also the IRS distributes emails that really help me to stay super-current.

SHOUTMB: What do you do on your rare days off?

Wendy: Movies, housework and read, read, read.

In short, Taxpectations offers Bookkeeping, Accounting, and all Tax Services includ-

ing complex issues, back taxes, individual, business and non-profit. Taxpectations prides itself on taking your shoebox (in whatever form that is) and turning it into a tool that you can use to make your business grow!! March through December

300 Airlie Road

Wilmington, NC 28403

Just 60 miles north of Myrtle Beach is an awesome day trip that any age can enjoy. Airlie Gardens lies just outside the city of Wilmington on the Bradley Creek. I visited on a cool sunny day in September and found the grounds to be well kept and beautiful If you choose to walk the whole area, it's about 2 miles plus any off-path excursions you may encounter. A convenient shuttle service is constantly circling the grounds to pick up patrons and bring them to any of the attractive areas contained within the grounds. Airlie continues to amaze visitors with a unique combination of gardens, wildlife, historic structures, and walking trails. The grounds are home to many really cool and unique

sculptures placed along the pathways. I stopped for an especially long rest with a view of the Bradley Creek under an old oak tree. There are lakes, a house made of bottles, an old-time chapel and sectioned gardens that really round-out the experience. Patrons can pack a lunch and picnic at their choice of many benches and tables offered for

use. This is really a perfect spot to have an intimate picnic and enjoy the fresh air and natural beauty of the area. For residents of the grand strand looking for a change of scenery

and pace this is the perfect getaway for the day. After-wards, you can enjoy the downtown section of Wilmington which is only
