Greetings in the name of responsible journalism!
The MARIAN, the official student publication of St. Mary’s University will be holding the 2nd LIMBAGAN, an invitational seminar on campus journalism for secondary and tertiary schools inside the province and in nearby provinces on October 29-31, 2013.
Noted media practitioners and renowned journalists in the country and in the region will serve as resource speakers during the seminar.
Registration is pegged at Php 1,400.00 per head. It covers two nights and three days of accommodation, food expenses, conference kit and other seminar expenses. A registration fee of Php 900.00 will be charged if accommodation is not included.

The MARIAN, the official student publication of St. Mary’s University, Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya announces the conduct of the 2nd LIMBAGAN, an invitational seminar on campus journalism for secondary and tertiary schools inside the province and in nearby provinces.
The theme for this year’s conference is: “Journalism and the New Media.” The seminar would dwell mainly on the changes and issues that come with the new media. It would enjoin students a stronger foundation to become the new voices in the educational institutions they serve and have a profound, meaningful influence in the community amid the strength that is in the changing media.
This annual event also aims to train and further educate the editorial board of the different school publications and aspiring student journalists in Nueva Vizcaya and in the nearby provinces in the conduct of what the Campus Journalism Act of 1991 guarantees which is to strengthen [the] ethical values, [encourage] critical and creative thinking and [develop] moral character and personal discipline of the Filipino youth.
This year’s LIMBAGAN will be held at the Aula Maria Hall, Apo Pilo Building, St. Mary’s University, Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya on October 29-31, 2013.
OBJECTIVES
• To unify campus journalists in Nueva Vizcaya and in the nearby provinces in the promotion and advancement of free and responsible campus journalism;
• To upgrade the journalistic skills of student writers in the in-depth analysis of situations arising inside the campus and the nation as well;
• To strengthen the campus papers as genuine instruments of democratization and development;
• To promote rapport and brotherhood among students and advisers;• To undertake activities that will bring about the students’ recognition of the
importance of journalism as a profession.
GUIDELINES• A registration fee of Php 1,400.00 will be charged for each participant. It
will be inclusive of two nights and three days of accommodation, meals and snacks, conference kits and other seminar costs. First meal will be AM snacks, October 29 and last meal will be AM snacks, October 31. A registration fee of Php 900.00 will be charged if accommodation is not included.
• Activities during the cultural night include presentations from the different participating schools, guest performers and performing groups of St. Mary’s University. A semi formal dress code must be observed.
• Activities for day three include the Awesome Race for the different participating schools. Participants are encouraged to bring comfortable clothes to wear during the said race.
