Jesús resplandece con una luz brillante Moisés y Elías aparecen junto a él Fiesta de la Transfiguración del Señor Semana del 6 de agosto del 2017 Escucha la Palabra (Mateo 17: 1 – 9) Al escuchar el relato de la Sagrada Escritura para hoy, ¿qué palabra o idea te llega más al corazón? ¿Qué imagen perman-ece en tu mente? Ve tu vida Pregunta para los niños: ¿Cómo demuestran que escuchan a Jesús? Pregunta para los jóvenes: ¿Cómo transforma sus vidas su fe en Jesús como el Hijo de Dios? Pregunta para los adultos: ¿Cuándo han presenciado una “transfiguración”? ¿Qué experimentaron? Actividades para la semana Tomen estas actividades para reflexionar más: Según el relato del Evangelio, la voz de Dios que salía de la

nube dijo: “¡Este es mi Hijo, el Amado; éste es mi Elegido, escúchenlo!” (Mateo 17, 5). Anima a tus familiares a com-partir cómo escuchan a Jesús.

Coloca una cruz a la entrada de la casa. Comenta con tu familia cómo les sirve este símbolo para recordar que deben escuchar a Jesús y permitirle transformar sus vidas. Cada vez que entren y salgan de la casa, se acordarán de amar a Dios y al prójimo como Jesús lo hizo.

What image do you take away from this reading? Look into your life Question for Children: How do you show that you listen to Jesus? Question for Youth: How does your faith in Jesus as the Son of God affect your life? Question for Adults: When have you had a “transfiguration” experience? What was it like? Activities for the week Take these activities to further reflect: In the Gospel, God’s voice comes from a cloud saying,

“This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to him” (Matthew 17:5). Invite family members to share how they listen to Jesus.

Place a cross near the entrance of your home. Talk to-gether about how this symbol serves as a reminder to listen to Jesus and allow him to transform your life. As family members enter and leave your home, you will be reminded to love God and others as Jesus did.

With the more relaxed schedule of summer, this is a per-fect time to invite another person or family to join your family at Mass or another parish event. Talk together about whom you might invite. If appropriate, invite the person or family to Mass followed by breakfast or lunch together.

In the Gospel today, Peter yearns to do something to make concrete the Transfiguration he had witnessed. But to be a good steward of this spiritual gift, he was instructed to be still, to listen to Jesus, and to wait for his direction. Good advice for us, too!

Remember - Children who are preparing for First Reconciliation and First Communion must participate in two years of Faith Formation prior to the celebration of the Sacraments. Teens preparing for the celebration of Confirmation will enroll in a standalone Confirmation preparation program after participation in two prior years of Faith Formation.
