We know how precious life is and Jesus died to save us all to allow us to enter heaven and be with our Heavenly Father. We all must have seen the news of the second worst school tragic incident in history. Tragedy has once again taken many young lives in Parkland South Florida. The parents and survivors’ lives will be affected and many for their entire lives. We pray for all those involved in this tragedy in Parkland South Florida. We lost a beloved Council family, Ed and Joyce Gerber, who exemplified what it is to be a Knights of Columbus family. We owe Brother Ed a debt of gratitude for all he has done for the Knights of Columbus which he loved so dearly. As our Communication Director, Brother Ed took on many functions especially his wonderful newsletter. It is known state wide, as his publication was posted not only on our website, but also on the state website. Some of the other functions Brother Ed took on for our Council were to manage our Council website, Gmail, Council Calendar Birthday and Anniversary lists, meeting sign-in sheets, new member badges, officer’s photos, our event’s and activity photographer. He also coordinated our Council memorial mass as a tribute to our deceased Brothers. That event took him months to arrange and prepare, creating the mass program and invitations for families to attend. At his side was his wife Joyce always at our dances helping her husband, our Brother, Ed. Because of their good deeds I’m sure they are seated at the right side of our Savior. May Brother Ed and Joyce rest in peace. Please keep them and their family in your prayers. We will not have a First Friday Communion Breakfast in March since we suspend this each year during lent only. On the first Friday each month our parish Respect Life Ministry and our Council Pro Life Committee say the rosary before mass to pray to save lives. The Lenten Fish Fry is every Friday during lent at 6:30 pm after Stations of the Cross in the church at 6pm. If you can, please arrive at 5pm to help setup the hall. Bingo is held in the church hall every Tuesday and can always use more help. We will be holding a shoe drive at all weekend masses March 10 th and 11 th to help the Flagler Education Foundation supply shoes. Low cost sneakers are preferred, in boys and girls styles and sizes from youth to adult for students in need. Remember our first principle is charity so please support our young students of Flagler County who are in desperate need of shoes. Congratulations to all our new Brothers who received their First and Second Degree in February. I sincerely wish you the best of luck on your journey to reaching your goal of full Knighthood when you receive your Third Degree. Please become active in your new council’s events and activities as this will allow you to learn more about the KofC. Visit KofC.org to learn more. If you missed our Sweetheart Dinner Dance you missed a very enjoyable evening. The food, music and attendance were wonderful. Thank you Brother’s Stan and Jim. They started dinner preparations at the Tuesday Bingo. Thanks to all who helped prepare food items and all who helped make the dance an evening to remember. This list includes the selling of tickets, the setup team, the decorating, our culinary and kitchen staff, the plating of food, and our wonderful Youth Group who served dinner to each table of our guests. Thank you, Brother Ken Ledford, PGK and the team you assembled to help paint the outside of the church hall. The efforts of our Brothers and others involved showed support for our principles of charity, unity and fraternity. Brothers this is the time of year when the Steering Committee creates the slate of officers list for nomination to be elected as an officer for the new fraternal year beginning July 1, 2018 and ending June 30, 2019. If you would like to be nominated for an officer position and placed on the nomination list, please contact Mike Arato, PGK, our Steering Committee chairman. Brothers, thank you for those who purchased and continue to sell books of tickets to support the Florida State Charity Raffle. We have about 40 books of tickets remaining to sell. If our Brothers who attend the March 2018 Business Meeting will take a book or two I’m sure we will sell all remaining books of tickets. For each book we sell, our Council will receive $6 per book. Charity is our first principle and I thank you for your efforts in the State Charity Raffle. I wish our Brothers good luck in winning one of the top prizes in the final drawing on May 26, 2018 at the Annual Convention Dinner in Orlando, FL. I sincerely thank Brother Michael Boullion for volunteering to publish our Council newsletter. Your February newsletter was created in just a few short days and our Council is so thankful for your efforts. I sincerely thank Brother James Green for volunteering to take on the duties of managing our website and our council email system. Thank you both for your dedication to our Council. Brothers please pray for those sick or in distress and our deceased Brothers and those in need of our prayers. Mary, Queen of the Knights, we pray for your continued guidance in all we do as we strive to grow the Knights of Columbus and practice our principles of charity, unity and fraternity. Please keep both our deceased Brother Edward and Joyce Gerber in your prayers. May they rest in peace. Thank you for your support and may God Bless you all. Vivat Jesus, Tony

Worthy Brothers, February was a very busy month for our council. Thank you to all Brother Knights who donated their time and talent for the First Friday Breakfast, Bingo, Sweetheart Dance

and painting the hall. Without your help, we would not be able to accomplish all these things. February was also a great time of sadness, not only for the shooting that happened at Marjory Stoneman-Douglas High School in Parkland but also for the passing of PGK Ed Gerber and his wife Joyce. Ed and Joyce were vital contributors of their time and talent to Council 10514. A memorial service for Ed and Joyce will be held March 14, 2018 @ 1:00 P.M. Hope to have a “Sea of Green” at the service. Many thanks to Mike Boullion for taking over most of the communications projects, especially the newsletter, Ed did for our Council. February was also the month where we held a First Degree and Second Degree Exemplification. I sincerely hope that our new members will get involved on some of our committees. Our Youth Committee sponsors several activities for all youth in Flagler County. These activities include a soccer challenge, basketball free-throw challenge and a poster contest that deals with stopping addictions. These events are held annually, contact GK Tony Gasparino for more information. The Citizens with Disabilities Committee hold the annual Tootsie Roll Drive. This year it

will be held in October. Volunteers will be needed to distribute tootsie rolls outside several local merchants. Contact PGK Mike Senko or PGK Ken Ledford for more information and look for the sign-up sheets to come out in September. There are many more committees that can use additional help such as Culinary/Beverages, 911 Memorial Service, Parades, Pro-Life. Contact the committee chairs to find out how you can contribute your time and talent.

Remember that Charity is one of the principles of the Knights of Columbus. Our Council needs your charity to remain a strong influence in our parish community. Thank you for all you do! Please continue to pray for our country to become united and to protect us all from harm and evil. Mary, Queen of the Knights, continue to bless us as we seek further growth in our principles of charity, unity, and fraternity. Vivat Jesus, Pat

LTC Is an Important Piece of the Puzzle There are many financial consultants and retirement authorities who emphasize the need for a long-term care (LTC) product for estate preservation and family protection. While many commercial life insurance

companies have gotten out of the long-term care business, the Knights of Columbus considers LTC a very important piece of the family protection puzzle. The Order has been actively offering our members this product for nearly 18 years without a premium increase on current policyholders. Members who wisely purchased an LTC plan from the Knights in 2000 are still paying the same premiums today.

Even better, our LTC coverage is backed by the full strength of the Order, which remains rooted in our strong Catholic values. Talk about stability when it counts. If we have not spoken about your need for LTC coverage in your family portfolio, please take some time out of your schedule to meet with me. Remember, long-term care policies are underwritten based on your health, and you most likely will never be any healthier than you are today. Victor S. February Sweetheart Dance

Youth Program March 2018

We held three successful Youth Programs this fraternal year and continue to strive to increase the number of students who participate in these events to hopefully become productive young adults as they grow to adulthood.

The Youth Program has encouraged the District 17 Councils to work together on each event. The District 17 Councils participated together in all three events using our principles of charity, unity and fraternity as we presented awards to the winners of our events, the students of Flagler County. The following are the events we held this fraternal year: The Soccer Challenge October 14, 2017 at 10:00 am at

Wadsworth Park Field with the help of Becky Mitchell the Administrator of the Flagler Youth Soccer League.

The Poster Contest Held in conjunction with the Flagler County Red Ribbon week in the Flagler Schools from October 23, 2017 through October 31, 2017. The

Flagler County judging of the posters including the KofC was held on December 15, 2017 at the Flagler County Government Building. The Awards were presented at the Flagler County School Board meeting on Tuesday evening January 16, 2018 at 6 pm in the Flagler County Government Building.

The Basketball Free Throw contest was held January 20, 2018 at 10 am at Carver Community Center in Bunnell with the help of Rev. Elijah Emanuel Center Director of the Flagler Basket.

If you would like to join the Youth Program to help with any event that may interest you, please contact me. You will find your efforts to be enjoyable, and extremely rewarding to be helping the Youth of Flagler County mature into Young Adults. Thank you for your support. God Bless. Tony Gasparino, Youth Director

Watch, O Lord, with those who wake, watch, or weep tonight, and give your angels charge over those who sleep. Tend your sick ones, O Lord Christ. Rest your weary ones. Bless your dying ones. Soothe your suffering ones. Pity your afflicted ones. Shield your joyous ones.
