Grand Knight – Michael Boullion
Worthy Brothers,
It is hard to believe that three-fourths of the Fraternal Year is not behind us. Tempus Fugit! We will continue to work together for a strong finish to the fraternal year.
As we go to press, Santa Maria del Mar Church and all parish facilities are closed until further notice due to safety guidelines for the coronavirus. We will be going to ‘Plan B’. We will conduct our April business meeting by video conference. The council officers have been conducting meetings by tele-conference and it has been working great! (Please see info at the bottom of page 4 for details.)
Congratulations to the new Knights of Columbus Council at St. Elizabeth Ann Seaton Church. The official name of Council 17480 is Mother Seaton – Palm Coast Council. The charter Grand Knight of the council is Mike Tennyson, a former member of Notre Dame Council. District Deputy Kevin Ryan along with District Warden E.Y. Walter presented the new council with Officer Jewels, compliments of Notre Dame Council 10514. We had to cancel the Social/Check Presentations that had been scheduled for Wednesday, March 25th. The checks are in the process of being mailed so as not to delay the organizations ability to utilize the funds. This year’s check recipients are: The Trail Transition Program, Whispering Meadows Ranch, and the Santa Maria del Mar Catholic Church Special Needs Ministry. Special thanks to Tootsie Roll Chairman Pat Mulvihill and all of the Tootsie Roll Campaign volunteers that helped make these check presentations possible. The annual ‘Laps for Life’ Program that was scheduled to be held on Saturday, April 4th at Fr. Lopez High School in
Daytona Beach has been cancelled. The efforts to raise funds for an ultrasound machine will continue. The 50’s Sock Hop that was set for Saturday, May 16th has been cancelled. We will explore other options once activities for the council have returned to normal. If anyone has already purchased their tickets, a full refund will be made. As a reminder, we will be voting on council officers at the May 6th business meeting. The Notre Dame Council Steering Committee has submitted a proposed slate of council officers for the 2020-21 Fraternal Year (see page 5). Additional nominations can be made at that meeting. If you would like more information on possibly serving as a council officer or as a committee volunteer, please contact myself or any council officer. HOLY WEEK PRAYER O Jesus, Who by reason of Thy burning love for us hast willed to be crucified and to shed Thy Most Precious Blood for the redemption and salvation of our souls, look down upon us here gathered together in remembrance of Thy most sorrowful Passion and Death, fully trusting in Thy mercy; cleanse us from sin by Thy grace, sanctify our toil, give unto us and unto all those who are dear to us our daily bread, sweeten our sufferings, bless our families, and to the nations so sorely afflicted, grant Thy peace, which is the only true peace, so that by obeying Thy commandments we may come at last to the glory of heaven. Amen. Vivat Jesus, Mike
District Deputy – Kevin Ryan
Perhaps, there is no better time to be a Knight than now!
With so much uncertainty in our present climate, leadership, compassion and evangelization have never been needed more
Charity, Unity and Fraternity need to be on full display. For the Knights in District 17 (Flagler County) it really means just turn it up a notch. You have always answered every call. You have consistently have been there in times of need. You always prove to be the Brotherhood that Fr. McGivney had envisioned.
So let's sharpen our already keen senses and keep a constant look out for those that are impacted most by this anxious and uncertain time. Let's reach out to those that need help attending to their needs, let's reach out to those confused, anxious and worried and let's lead by providing stability and calm.
I am always honored to call you Brothers and even more proud to know we. Brother's All, can be the beacons and force to help all we encounter find peace and calm during adversity. This is what we signed on for, Vivat Jesus! SK Kevin J. Ryan, PGK, District Deputy - District 17

Notre Dame Council Earns Columbian-Founders Award District Deputy Kevin Ryan (R) presented Past Grand Knight Patrick Mulvihill (L) the Supreme Council Columbian-Founders Award for the 2019-20 fraternal year. To qualify for the Columbian Award, a council must implement Faith in Action Programs during the fraternal year. These programs are in four areas: Faith, Family, Community, & Life.
To qualify for the Founders Award, a council must meet the requirements for the number of associate members becoming insurance members through the Order’s Insurance Program. PGK Mulvihill thanked DD Ryan and the Supreme Council for the award on behalf of the council membership.
The Resurrection of Jesus
After the sabbath, as the first day of the week was dawning, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to see the tomb. And behold, there was a great earthquake; for an angel of
the Lord descended from heaven, approached, rolled back the stone, and sat upon it. His appearance was like lightning and his clothing was white as snow. The guards were shaken with fear of him and became like dead men. Then the angel said to the women in reply, “Do not be afraid! I know that you are seeking Jesus the crucified. He is not here, for he has been raised just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples, ‘He has been raised from the dead, and he is going before you to Galilee; there you will see him.’ Behold, I have told you.”
Then they went away quickly from the tomb, fearful yet overjoyed, and ran to announce this to his disciples. And
behold, Jesus met them on their way and greeted them. They approached, embraced his feet, and did him homage. Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid. Go tell my brothers to go to Galilee, and there they will see me.” (Matthew 28:1-10)
