JUSTIFYING THE SOLUTION

From the very beginning, I was extremely excited about designing his Scandinavian Modern space; particularly because its a
really delve into. I began my process with completing quite a bit of research so that I could identify the characteristics of this
discovered was that Scandinavian Modern is best known for its minimalist approach and often evokes either a black/white
muted palette with pops of color. My intent was to connect both of these palettes to create a space that changes and grow
through the space. The client profile really led me to create an idea of who these people are and what would be important
that they love traveling, music and collecting tokens from their adventures; I wanted the space to showcase their interestinpersonalities. To me, when you walk into a space, it should always feel as though you are being a voyeur and by entering, so
allowing you to look behind their curtain. Every l ight fixture, fabric and piece of furniture was meant to bring visual interest to
every item selected connected to the color palette and design intent in some way so that i t didnt feel out of place.
As the class moved forward, I kept pushing and changing my design which allowed room for new ideas that would push th
end, this is a light bright space with a series of black and white dominant features that are tamed by the soft colors around
art that are conversational and accessories that bring forth texture and height variation. The natural elements that I incorpo
connection to nature and allow the space to feel very organic rather than overdone.
I thought the idea of schematic plans was really fantastic. Pushing through the plans and considering human factors and ho
really played into the final product. My initial floor plan was not very user friendly and would have made my clients displease
people) for sure. I had rooms situated in places that would have made life extremely difficult for them such as the laundry ofeedback from classmates and the instructor really helped my plan to evolve into a space that is practical and functional. Ac
furnishings in the space as I was choosing items was very helpful. There were certain pieces that just did not fit and so they
design. If I hadnt seen that in CAD, I may have created a very costly mistake.
