Addiction is serious and progressive. It effects us physically, mentally, emotionally, socially, financially, and spiritually. Students of SBS Bawrala participated in “Design for Change” contest. Students of SBS felt the drug addiction problem in villagers and put an idea to “Save them from this habit” through ‘Rally, role plays & Oath Letters’ in front of the community.

Most of the villagers are addicted to drugs at some or other level.

In school campus, many times illegal things such wine, opium & smack are found. Many villagers are addict of drugs. Similarly this habit goes from parents to their children. Thus

many youths of village are also addict of drugs which spoils their health and career.

Take this issue to community leaders like – Sarpanch, Ward Panch & Old aged people. Meeting with some responsible person of village. Students conduct a rally to aware local villagers. Prepare some slogans, banners & poster. Paste posters & banners awaking them about addiction in village. Students to aware their own family about these bad habits of addiction. Visit site of MNREGA & anganwadi centers and talk to community members & spread awareness. Students prepare oath letters which were signed by all community members regarding de-addiction.

We started a rally from our school to village. We covered every street, where class V students do a role play on Drug Addiction. Through street play and rally, the implications of Drug Addiction are highlighted. They include poor health, Mental illness, violence against women, etc. Drug Addiction has a negative impact at all levels, from the scale of the individual to the family.

Students of Satya Bharti School, Bawarla visited gram panchayat, where they met with sarpanch of village and ward members and discuss the problem of Drug Addiction between men and women of village. During discussion they highlighted the impact of Drugs on society and measures to control Drug Addiction among youth of village. Local villagers also comes forward to support students in this campaign against Drug Addiction. They provided a open Jeep & mike system . Students and villagers by coordination take a round of whole village covering all streets & shouting “ Says no to Addiction”, “ Smoking & Drug addiction are injurious to health” etc

Students visited site of MNREGA & Anganwadi where around 30-35 members were present Students talked to community about the harms & losses of bad habits & different drugs. After completion of speeches & messages, students took sign on oath letter by present parents & community members. Paste posters in village. Talk to youth group of village about implications of Drug Addiction.

• Community members & village panchayat appreciated the efforts of Satya Bharti School Students. Some of the community members came on Chaupal & signed the oath letter and promised to never take wine & any other intoxication at any cost and also not to supports those involved. Some Parents of Class V students, took their child into confidence & promised not to take any kind of drug in future. Community appreciated this initiative to remove such bad habits from society & also for our efforts that we are doing from last three years to make bawarla school free from addiction. As per Sarpanch & local villagers as an impact of this campaign a huge downfall is seen in no of persons addicted by drugs etc in last two years especially youth is more benefitted from this campaign.
