Young at Heart? (formally Seniors & Friends Group) Wednesday, 7 August Jon & Jenny Jones will be sharing photos of their recent trip to the South Pacific and some fun quizzes. Bring along a slice or cake to share. If you need transport, please let us know. (Held in function room)

Sunday Luncheon - Function Room Sunday 18 August 12.30pm Due to the cold weather it has been decided to hold August & September lunch’s at the church so there is no need to travel. Oo-thuizen family will host the event. Soup and a cuppa will be provided, please bring something sweet to share. Come along and share a meal together. Youth Group Friday 9 August. Crafting the Kingdom! 7-9pm. How can we help serve other people less fortunate than ourselves? Come along to hear about Mission from our guest speaker who has first hand experience in being a missionary. Also have your chance to make something for yourself and the mission table at church. Crèche - for children aged 1 - 3½ years. Glo-Group and Livewire Programs for children 3½ to Year 8. They generally leave after the children’s talk.

Kids' Service Practice There will be a practice on Wednesday 7th August from 6:30-7:30pm in the Auditorium for all available children, rostered vocalists and band members. We will be the support crew for Sean W Smith who is coming to our morning service on the 11th August. All kids will also need to arrive at church by 9:30am on Sunday 11th August. *Children with special roles should arrive at 9am!

Special Communion 11th August am Service Communion will not be served during the Sean W. Smith Service on the morning of 11th August, but instead, will be offered immediately after the service for all who would like to take part. Please know that we highly value the role Communion plays in a service and have only made this decision to allow Sean and the kids the time they need.

Can You Help with Supper? We need some people to assist with catering for our Family Badminton Night on the 6th September. If you would like to assist please contact Melissa.

3BA Christmas in July Appeal Donation box for blankets and non-perishable foods located in the foyer. The appeal utilises charities including; Uniting Care, the Salvation Army, Anglicare and the St Vincent de Paul Society to provide assistance to approximately 4,500 disadvantaged and struggling families in Ballarat and surrounding areas this Winter.

40 Hour Famine - The Reality When: 16-18th of August Where: one2one Gillies Street Church of Christ There are two options for the weekend: *Learn The Reality. Friday 7PM - 9PM $2 The night will be full of fun games and entertainment as well as learning more about the famine and how the things we do impact it. We will also look at how Jesus asks us to respond to the issues of poverty and human trafficking and what are some of the practical ways we can help stop it. Entry is $2 (To be donated towards the 40 Hour Famine _________________________________________________ *Live The Reality. Friday 7PM - Sunday 12PM $5 A 3-day event focused on giving insight to what it's like living in poverty. Participants will have the chance to sleep outside in cardboard boxes, and be involved in a range of activities that make up an average day for someone living in poverty. Friday: Participate in the activities of Learn The Reality. Saturday: Will be full of activities highlighting the real cost of poverty and human trafficking. It will be a time to engage in realities and reflect on what we can do next. Sunday: A break up lunch at one2one Gillies Street following the 10am service.

To book your spot for staying overnight at Live The Reality a registration form and $5 will need to be handed to a Laura, Aaro n or Jarrod by Friday the 9th of August. (The $5 covers Friday night and will be donated to 40 Hour Famine) Sandwiches soups and slices! For those who love to cook - we would love if you could donate some food so we can break the famine, please write your name on the list on the information desk or contact Laura at [email protected] if you could help out or need more information.

M5 - Music Ministry’s Monthly Monday Meeting Our music team meets on the first Monday of each month. Our next M5 is - Monday 5 August. Bring your instruments, voices, your Bible and your smile!! Praise and band leaders meet at 7pm and music teams meet at 7.30pm in the church au-ditorium. New members are always welcome! If you have an interest in joining the music team, simply come along on the night, or speak to Sally Parker . If you are a member of the music team, and you’re unable to attend, please inform Sal-ly on [email protected].

Operation Christmas Child – target 350 boxes of lov e This year’s Operation Christmas Child mission event is ready to begin! � Launch Sunday and Market Day will be held during both services on Sunday 25 August with Final Collection and Dedication Sunday on Sunday 15 September . � A new initiative this year is Market Day with a wonderful collection of lovingly made items for purchase for the shoe boxes. All proceeds go to OCC to assist with transport costs. � OCC printed shoe boxes will be available at Launch Sunday for a donation of 50c. If you prefer to source a box they need to be roughly the size of an A4 sheet of paper. We discovered they are in high demand from shoe shops! Carry bags painted by the children and sewn by a team of ladies will be available for the children to collect at Launch Sunday. Further handmade items for Market Day are still being accepted and can be provided to Jackie or Virginia by 18 August.

MOPS – Mothers of Preschoolers All mothers of children aged 0-5 are invited to come along to the one2one Mothers of Pre-schoolers (MOPS) Group. Mums can enjoy some relaxing time with other mums while their children participate in age appropriate activities in the MOPPETS program.

Our next MOPS mornings are: Tuesday 13 th August – ‘5 Love Languages’ - Guest Speaker: Melis sa O’Hara Tuesday 27 th August – ‘Intimacy’ – Guest Speaker: Gabriel Norri s All MOPS mornings are held at the church from 9:15-11:45am on alternate Tuesdays during school terms. $5 per mum - first visit is free. Lost Property Lost property items can be found at the bottom right hand corner of the pigeon holes in the foyer. If lost something, please have a look there or drop into the church office during business hours.
