Welcome to your Festival 2016 This year we celebrate the twenty-third Hounslow Older People’s Festival. Breaking with tradition we

launch the Festival with a Jazz Boat trip from Kew Gardens Pier to Westminster. This will be a fantastic

start to a fun-packed July for older people in Hounslow. For a number of years I have thought it would

be good to offer something for grandparents who are looking after their grandchildren during school

holidays. The last week of our Festival 2016 is the first week of the school holidays and you are

welcome to bring grandchildren to the events and activities during this week.

As always the Festival is an opportunity for older people to get together, enjoy a range of activities

and events taking place across Hounslow, learn new things and make new friends. The workshops

include learning how to use your digital gadgets, Bollywood Dance, Digital Photography, Arts and

Crafts. There are coach trips to Hastings, a heritage railway, a National Trust property and lovely

gardens. Use your Freedom Pass to join us on visits to fascinating properties in London and see the

musical Bugsey Malone at the Lyric Theatre Hammersmith.

Hounslow Seniors Trust’s theme for our work last year was Peace. The fantastic artworks on the

back cover of the brochure were created by older people working with some Redlees artists. You

can see the digital exhibition of all the artworks on our website www.hounslowseniorstrust.org. In

2015 we worked with Inspire Hounslow, a local funding partner, that supported our Intergenerational

Mosaic Project where older people and students from Beavers Community Primary School came

together to create the beautiful mural shown on the front cover of this brochure.

Hounslow Older People’s Festival would not exist without the contributions made by the many local

organisations and individuals in the Borough that support us. I would especially like to thank the

Musical Museum for providing the Festival Box Office again this year.

Satish Dutt, Chair Hounslow Seniors Trust
