Mobile Device Health Check

Top 5 tips:

1. Check the basics: Use app store settings to only show age appropriate apps. Check that app and in-app purchasing requires a password.

Turn-off ‘locations services’ so your child doesn’t unintentionally share their location with others

2. Review apps on their devices: Check age ratings of any apps you’re not familiar with. Do they have the right privacy settings across all

social, messaging & Gaming apps they use?

3. Turn on safe search: Switch on Google SafeSearch -

(https://support.google.com/websearch/answer/510?co=GENIE.Platform%3DDesktop&hl=en) to block explicit results.

Also turn on YouTube ‘Restricted Mode’ -

(https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/174084?co=GENIE.Platform%3DDesktop&hl=en) to help screen out inappropriate

content.

4. Check they’re connected safely: Use parental controls on your broadband to block inappropriate content. Check a content lock is set

up on their mobile network to stop them seeing things they shouldn’t.

5. Agree digital boundaries: Talk about how to be responsible and stay safe online when sharing images or live streaming. Stay engaged

by having regular conversations about what they do online.

It will be arriving on 28th November and will be here

until 4th December. Come by at 3.30 in the Library

and support our school whilst getting your hands on

the best new children’s books!

We earn valuable commission on the books we sell at

the fair, which we will use to support reading in the

school.

It’s that time of year again! The PTA elves are busily planning our wonderful Christmas Fair - which will be after school on Friday 13th December. As ever, the fair cannot run on Christmas cheer alone, and needs an army of willing helpers! You can get involved in many ways - you can help sell raffle tickets, man a stall, donate prizes or cakes, and collect items for us. We have put together an online volunteering portal, so you can just click the link and browse the jobs on offer! Please go to: https://patchworkit.com/28942/HitherfieldXmas2019 and sign up! Goody bags will be sent home with your children in due course, with full instructions. Raffle tickets will shortly be on sale around the school, for the chance to win some fabulous prizes. They will be priced at £1 per ticket, in line with the new lottery guidelines that we need to follow. The odds of winning will remain the same. The PTA are delighted to confirm that we will once again be funding a festive panto of “Beauty & The Beast” for years 3,4,5 and 6 also on Friday 13th December. Tickets to the ever-popular Santa’s Grotto will be on sale in due course. We will be opening up some earlier sessions in the Grotto for pre-schoolers, which will take place before the bell rings! Remember to start putting aside suitable prizes for the Tombola - brand new gifts, toiletries, food items, bottles of booze, chocolates etc. We will collect the week of the Fair. Alex will also be running a secondhand toy stall, so if you have some good quality pre-loved toys or books, you will also be able to donate these at a later stage. PLEASE JOIN US AT OUR NEXT MEETING ON FRIDAY 29TH NOVEMBER, AFTER DROP-OFF IN THE STAFFROOM. ALL WELCOME! THANK YOU EVERYONE!
