Heroes for Children Raises Over $675,000 at Heroes and Handbags Events Families with Children Who Are Battling Cancer Will Benefit Richardson, TX- Heroes for Children, a unique non- profit organization that provides social and financial assistance to families with a child battling cancer, celebrated 10 years of service at the signature fundraising event “Heroes and Handbags,” hosted in Dallas and Houston. This year’s events included the one-time “Heroes and Handbags Gala” held on March 28, 2015, at the Hilton Anatole Hotel in Dallas and the traditional luxury handbag auction and luncheon held on May 7, 2015, at the Omni in Houston. More than 800 guests were in attendance at this year’s events, raising more than $675,000 for Heroes for Children. “We are so grateful for the many guests who joined us in celebrating our 10-year anniversary at the Heroes and Handbags events held in Dallas and Houston,” says Larissa Linton, co-founder and executive director for Heroes for Children. “It is through successful events like Heroes and Handbags that we’ve been able to provide more than $5.5 million in assistance to more than 4,000 families across the state. We owe our success to our loyal and devoted supporters, especially those in Dallas and Houston – we could not have achieved this success without them.” In Dallas, gala Chairs Jennifer Dix and Skye Brewer planned an elegant evening featuring a luxury handbag auction, entertainment from Downtown Fever, dinner and dancing. Guests bid on hot items including unique paintings by Dan Dunn going for more than $30,000, a Zac Brown concert experience for $15,000, and over 100 handbags by Chanel, Alexander McQueen, Tiffany & Co. and more. In Houston, event chair Lori Lemon-Geshay ensured notable guests including fashion designer Elaine Turner, KHOU anchor Mia Gradney and more had a wonderful time over brunch and bubbly – bidding on Heather McLeskey, Elaine Turner, DeeAnn Thigpen and Mia Gradney attend tHeroes and Handbags in Houston. In Dallas, painter Dan Dunn created one-of-kind pieces throughout the evening selling for $30,000.

Heroes and Handbags will resume the traditional luncheon format in both Dallas and Houston in the spring of 2016.
