KNITTING CLUB:
WARM UP AMERICA KNITTING PROJECT The HIR Knitting Club has launched the HIR Knitting Club
Warms Up America Project. In partnership with Lion Brand
Yarn Company we will be knitting and/or crocheting small
squares to be made up into afghans by the volunteer group Warm Up America. The blankets are then given to recipients
such as women’s shelters, nursing homes, children’s hospitals
and shelters, veterans’ homes and homeless shelters. We ask
only that you know how to knit or crochet. Yarn, needles and
hooks will be provided courtesy of Lion Brand Yarn Company.

Partners in Caring (PIC) program facilitated by
Jewish Board and funded by UJA‐Federation of
New York. She understands our mission and what we are about, and she is excited to be serving our
community in particular. Arona will be working in
Riverdale at the Beatman Center on most
Mondays and Wednesdays. She can be reached

committed to destigmatizing and normalizing mental health issues, and she
is eager to expand the Bayit's programming to service our members' needs.

We invite all families to take part in a special Pesach to Shavuot learning. Each family chooses one or more Mishnayot to learn together before Shavuot. Then join us on Erev Shavuot, Shabbat afternoon, May 19th when we will gather as a community to share
our learning and enjoy festive snacks from 5:00 - 6:30pm. Various Mishnayot (printed on postcards) are available on the Youth Floor. You can pick up a Mishna/postcard on your way home to learn with your children.

Chumashim repair. Please do not place any other items in the bins.

book that is being put together for them.

Samantha & Daniel Wiener are dedicated members of the Bayit who have been active in
many important behind-the-scenes efforts on behalf of our shul.
They both bring their unique professional backgrounds into their involvement in the shul.
Samantha's background in early childhood education, with extensive knowledge and
expertise in educating young children, and Daniel's work in real estate have impacted the
areas of volunteerism that they have chosen to connect with at the Bayit.
Daniel also serves on the executive committee, and he and Samantha and their children
Akiva, Tehila and Liliya are regular attendees at Tot Shabbat and supporters of the Youth
Department.
Samantha & Daniel see what needs to be done at shul, step up, and offer their time and help
without waiting to be asked.

SARAH LILY ADOPTION FUND: As part of its mission to strengthen families, and promote Jewish identity and continuity, The
Riverdale Y has established the Sarah Lily Fund for Adoption that provides two $5,000 grants annually to help Jewish families in
Metropolitan New York being formed by adoption. Application deadlines are May 31st and November 30th of every year. For

REFA’ENU's peer-led mood disorder support groups will meet Tuesday, 3/15/2018, in Paramus. Groups meet regularly on the
1st and 3rd Tuesdays of every month. Groups meet at 7:30pm in the Ben Porat Yosef Building at E. 243 Frisch Ct. in Paramus, NJ.
Doors open at 7:10pm. Please make an effort to be on time (by 7:30pm) so as not to disrupt the flow of the groups. Groups are
divided between a group for those with a disorder (depression, bipolar) as well as a group for their loved ones. Please check

WOMEN’S INITIATIVE FOR JEWISH STUDIES (WIJS) is a program with the mission of introducing outstanding women
