2017-18 Bayit Rabbinic Team Update
Dear Bayit Family,
We are excited to share with all of you the changes to our
rabbinic team for the coming year, effective July 1, 2017.
Rabba Anat Sharbat, completing
her second year as a rabba in our
Bayit, will be expanding from
part-time to full-time as our
Associate Rabba. She will continue
her pastoral, life cycle, teaching and
other rabbinic responsibilities, and
she will also oversee daily tefillah
and our conversion program and
other details of the Bayit's
day-to-day spiritual activities.
Rav Ezra Seligsohn, who received
semikhah from YCT this month, will
be joining our Bayit as a full-time
Associate Rabbi. He will be involved
in all areas of rabbinic team work,
with a focus on envisioning Bayit
community engagement and
programming.
Rav Dan Margulies, who will
receive semikhah from YCT this
month, will be joining our Bayit as a
part-time Assistant Rabbi, serving
primarily at weekday tefillot and on
Shabbatot and Chagim. His
emphasis will be in teaching.
We look forward to each of you
getting to know and learn from Ezra
and Dan, both talented and wonderful rabbis, and to our entire
rabbinic team's deepening its relationships with each of
you. We are blessed that Rav Avi and Rabba Sara continue to
be available and involved in our rabbinic team.
As we say goodbye to Rav Ari and also to Rabba Ramie, we are
committed to the Bayit's mission, and we will continue to go
mechayil el chayil - from strength to strength. We are here as
always to answer any of your questions, and we welcome your
feedback.

JEWISH HERITAGE TOURS: Rabbi Lookstein Leads July Mission to Berlin/Prague (or Berlin Only – your choice).
Rabbi Haskel Lookstein once again teams-up with beloved Ramaz Faculty alumnus Dr. David Bernstein as the “Dynamic Duo” of
Jewish heritage tours, but this July they soar to Berlin/Prague (a Berlin Only option is available). Berlin and Prague sit at the
crossroads of modern Jewish history. Many of the themes of contemporary Judaism began here: the struggle with assimilation, the
division into movements, the search for a homeland, and the battle against anti-Semitism. In the span of just a few short days we
will visit historical sites critical to the Enlightenment, early Reform Judaism and Modern Orthodoxy, Zionism and the Holocaust.
The tour will include places of both general and Jewish interest including the Museum of the Resistance, Sanssouci, the Rykestrasse
Synagogue, the Memorial to Book Burnings, Sachsenhausen, the Wannsee Conference Villa, the Max Lieberman House, the Prague
Jewish Museum, Altneushul, Charles Bridge, Prague Castle and Terezin, among many more sites. Enjoy access to inspiring local
leaders, including German members of Parliament, local Rabbinic leadership, and Israeli diplomats. Experience for yourself the
inspiration felt by hundreds who have joined us on previous missions. One needs no Ramaz/KJ nexus to participate. For pricing,
itinerary and registration, visit www.CKJ.org/EuropeMission and direct questions to [email protected].
MONDAY NIGHT SOFTBALL IS BACK! Step up to the plate for our weekly informal softball game with other Riverdale
synagogues. Every Monday during the summer, from June 26 to August 28, we will meet in Seton Park (Independence Ave. &
232nd St.) for a pickup softball game, starting at 6:30. Adults and kids 11-years-old and older are invited to play. All are welcome
to watch and cheer. It's a relaxing and fun way to spend a summer evening and create community in Riverdale! For more
information, please contact to Yoni Schwab ([email protected]) or James Lapin ([email protected]).
