CLIMATE CORNER
Keeping Cool During a Heatwave
Keeping cool during intense heat doesn’t just mean using
your air conditioning or eating ice cream. There are many
ways to be green while staying cool. Try cooling your space
by being smart about your appliance usages: avoid running
your dishwasher, dryer, washing machine, or oven on hot
days as these add heat to your space; use ceiling fans
strategically; and, consider replacing your incandescent bulbs
with LEDs because incandescent bulbs waste 90 percent of
their energy as heat. Also, keep your blinds closed during
the day to help keep heat out and open your windows during
breezy nights to cool your home. To join and learn more,
contact the Green Team at [email protected].
BREATH, BODY, MIND FOR KIDS w/Shira Gordon:
