Introduction:

My dear Confreres,We began the new liturgical year with the refection of Pope Franciswho said that Advent season, invites us to pay attention to the needsof those around us who suffer and the Advent season reminds usthat Jesus constantly enters our lives. He said, the certainty thatJesus will return at the end of time urges us to look to the future withconfidence and hope. He exhorts us to assume an attitude ofpilgrimage, of journeying towards Christ, who is the meaning andgoal of history." It is the time to welcome Jesus' coming, as He comesas a messenger of peace to show us the ways of God." To receiveJesus we need to stay awake. "The sleep from which we mustawake is created by indifference, by vanity, and by the inability toestablish genuinely human relationships and to take care of ourbrothers and sisters who find themselves alone, abandoned, or ill."To stay awake, means "paying attention to our neighbor in difficultyand allowing their need to draw us in, without waiting for him or herto ask us for help."

Christmas is the time to recall Christ's first coming into this worldwhich is History. As we celebrate God's gift to us of His Son Jesus,we are called to bring that gift of love into the world and prepareourselves for his second coming which is a mystery. During thisperiod of waiting let us learn to build bridges in our humanrelationships in community living, place of ministry and in the worldaround.

I pray that this Christmas be a joyful moment of Good News thatGod-is-with-us. May we all welcome Him again with hope into ourhearts. Wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2020.

He has completed his Doctorate in Biblical Theology from thePontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas (Angelicum), Rome. Hisdoctoral thesis was "A Call to Covenant Fear: Exegetical andTheological Perspective from Deuteronomy 10: 12-13.

He has written a series of Sunday Reflections (Homilies) titled"Whispers of the Spirit".

Foundation stone blessed for theNew Provincialate

The much awaited and longstanding foundation stone for the newProvincialate was blessed and laid on 22nd Nov. 2019 by Very Rev.Fr. Yves Carron, the Assistant General. The ceremony began withthe concelebrated Holy Mass presided over by the Assistant Generalattended by the Provincials of Visakhapatnam and South East Indiaprovinces Very Rev. Fathers Innacimuthu and P.Chinnappa Reddy.

The Councillors and Secretaries of Innovative Forum from allIndian Provinces were also attended the ceremony.

After the mass, the Assistant General Very Rev. Fr. Yves Carronblessed the foundation stone and laid in the ground and fulfilled allthe formalities.

Later the Assistant General, Provincials, Councillors, MSFS Superiorsof Visakhapatnam and Senior Confreres broke the coconut andblessed the occasion.Thanks be to God for having blessed ourProvince with the timely graces and blessings.

VISAKHAPURI MARY MATHA SHRINEANNUAL FEAST CELEBRATIONS AT ROSS HILL

The annual feast of our Ross Hill Shrine (Visakhapuri Mary MathaShrine) was celebrated with utmost devotion, piety and pomp on 8th

December 2019. The nine days of spiritual preparation wasinaugurated by His Excellency Rt. Rev. Dr. Aplinar Senapathi, Bishopof Rayagada, with flag hoisting on 29th November in the presence ofVery Rev. Fr. Chinnappa Reddy, Provincial of Visakhapatnam. Themorning Mass in English was celebrated by Very Rev. Fr. YvesCarron, Assistant Superior General. On the 3rd December, themorning English Mass was presided over by Rev. Fr. Philip Parackal,Golden Jubilarian and Former Director of the Ross Hill Shrine andthe homily was preached by our Assistant Superior General. AfterMass, the newly constructed Ross Hill Multipurpose Hall was blessedby Assistant Superior General, inaugurated by Rev. Fr. Philip Parackalin the gracious presence of Very Rev. Fr. Chinnappa Reddy, ourProvincial Superior. In the evening at grotto, the Telugu Mass waspresided over by His Excellency Rt. Rev. Dr. Rayarala Vijay Kumar,PIME, Bishop of Srikakulam. The novena days were conducted byall the parishes and religious communities from the city ofVisakhapatnam who took active part in making this preparation trulya spiritual event. The Pontifical Solemn Mass on 8th December wascelebrated at 7.30 am by His Grace Most Rev. Dr. PrakashMallavarapu, Archbishop of Visakhapatnam while the Very Rev. Fr.Chinnappa Reddy, Provincial of Visakhapatnam Province and otherpriests concelebrated in it. At 2 pm the Procession started from St.Aloysius High School to Ross Hill with the decorated statue of OurLady (Theru) in which the faithful took part by reciting Holy Rosaryand singing Marian Hymns. It was followed by Benediction at the

Grotto during conducted by the Archbishop, in which Rev. Fr. MekalaSebastian Reddy, Silver Jubilarian & Parish priest of Tanuku preachedthe sermon. the extension of the parking area and westernization ofpublic restrooms at barber stand did make the devotees happy aboutthe feast this year. The ten festive days were covered by mediaeffectively.

The Ross Hill Community sincerely thanks His Grace, MallavarapuPrakash, Archbishop of Visakhapatnam, Very Rev. Fr. ChinnappaReddy, Provincial of Visakhapatnam Province, all the MSFSconfreres, Diocesan clergy, Religious, Volunteers, Media,Visakhapatnam Port Trust, Government officials who in very manyways helped in organizing the Feast. Blessing and Inauguration of Lourdu Matha Church,Tallakampadu at Anajipuram :

Indeed it was a joyful day to the smallcommunity of Catholic Church, which was alivefor last 50 years. There was an old thatchedshed for long years under a tamarind tree, lateron it was roofed with mud tiles by PIMEFATHERS. In late 80s Fr. Boyapati Marreddy,a local priest renovated it with iron sheets. Dueto the disturbance of monkies Fr. Boyapati JojiReddy decorated it with colored sheets to lastlonger. Meanwhile we the Missionaries of SaintFrancis de Sales have taken the mission in

2017 and began to reconstruct it as a beautiful at Thalla Kham Pahad,with the help of The Missionary Sisters of St. Peter Claver and theprovince along with the few donors from the local church. Finally on16th December 2019 at 11.00 am during the Episcopal high massalong with other 15 priests His Lordship Rt. Rev. Bp. Govind Joji,

Bishop of Nalgonda in the presence of our Beloved ProvincialSuperior Fr. Pentareddy Chinnapa Reddy and our priests fromHyderabad, Khammam, blessed and inaugurated the church. ADeacon was a special attraction in the Celebration. The Village hasgiven a priest, by name Fr. Lourdhu Kiran for the Diocese ofKhammam. The Celebrants were honoured. A delicious lunch wasprepared and served in our MSFS GURU NILAYAM at Anajipuram.

SPECTACULAR SPORTS DAY

St. Francis de Sales' High School (S.F.S. School ) Medipally,Hyderabad, Telangana, organized a spectacular Sports Day (DrillDisplay) on Saturday (14-12-2019) from 3.15 p.m. to 7.15 p.m. inour school premises. Rev. Dr. Abraham Vettuvelil, MSFS, the SuperiorGeneral of MSFS Congregation, Rev. Fr. Yves Carron MSFS, theAsst. Superior General and the members of the General Curia ofMSFS congregation graced the occasion and witnessed the programin its entirety. Almost all students of our school participated in variousevents and items. They created history.

Jelly fish race for nursery, Flower Drill for L.K.G., Parasol Drillfor U.K.G. ,Orb Drill for the class I, Dumbbells & Hoops for the ClassII, Celestial Drill for Class III & IV Aerobics for the class V andCalisthenics (Mass Drill) for the High School boys and Girls and thebreath- taking and mesmerizing Torch Drill a Military Drill for 20minutes by the senior boys) were the drill items performed inperfection and precision. Get ready to school, Run lad run, sackrun, chap run, spring run for girls, and slow and steady for boys etc.were some of the fun filled items. A festoon race was organizedexclusively for the parents. "Go green", a dance sequence for 12minutes performed by class VIII promoted the flagship program -HARITHA HAARAM - of Telangana Govt. Students of Class IX dancedand advocated 'SWATCH BHARATH' theme of the Govt. of India.

The SESQUICENTENNIAL (150th anniversary ) of the birth ofMahatma Gandhi had its resonance in our school when 150 boysattired as Gandhi and made a unique tableau. This was our tributeto the father of our nation. It was one of the highlights of the daythough every item had a unique class and touch of its own. The"Indian Rainbow " executed by class VI & VII focused on thetheme of unity in diversity ( very much essential to the current Indianpolity when fissiparous tendencies are raising their ugly head inmultidimensional forms). 'Flash mob', a dance by Santa Clauseand his team brought the Christmas cheer and New Year Joy to theaudience in anticipation.

S.S.C. toppers of 2018-19 were awarded with certificates,mementos and cash by Superior General. The individual- champions(senior, junior and sub - junior) were given trophies and certificates.The champion houses received the Shields from the Chief Guest.All the distinguished guests were honored and felicitated on theoccasion with flowers, shawls, mementos and gifts. In and throughthese events and programs the stakeholders of education - students,parents, teachers - were elevated into higher level experience andexistence.

Saturday (14-12-2019) is a Red Letter Day on the annals ofS.F.S. School, Medipally, Hyderabad, T.S.

Sports Carnival - 2019 at St. Aloysius High School

Active mind in healthy body! St. Aloysius Anglo-Indian High Schoolgrounds were packed to the brim on 20th December, 2019 with theparents and public for the Annual Celebrations of Sports Carnival-2019. The celebrations were opened with the reception of Very Rev.

Fr. Chinnappa Reddy, our Provincial and Rev. Fr. Sandeep Reddy,the Provincial Councilor for Education were the Dignitaries who hadgraced the occasion. The School Band played patriotic melodies.The Sports days differ from Cultural Evenings. Every Student of theSchool participated in one item or the other. The Students displayedFancy drills to the tunes of rhythms and beats to the pleasure ofparents in the galleries. The Cow Boys, the KG students, theChristmas Tree boys of 1st and 2nd, the Shining Stars the 3rd Boys,the Silver Sun Flowers boys of 4th, the Tri-Colour boys of 5th & 6th,the Elements of Nature by high school boys, the Dumbells by the9th boys, the Legimes by 8th Boys were well applauded by theaudience. The high lights of the day were the Pyramids and theFlames and Whales, the students jumping through the fire rings inthe dark. There were also athletic competitions among other Inter-House Display Competitions. The Meet that was opened at 2.00pmwas officially closed at 6.10pm with the Retreat by the School Band.The Success of the Sports Carnival goes to the hard work of theStaff. The Management and the Staff hope that the Disciplinecultivated during the month long practices and the physical exercisesdone help the students to be physically fit and mentally alert!
