four cars as full house prizes for the first four houses with a snowballprize of a Compass Jeep, not many would have taken them seriously. After a lot of background planning and research , when the first posterwas put up on the Club notice boards with copies of the eventannouncement in Waltair Times, it became the talking point for mostclub members. SMS’swent out to all themembers to block theirtickets to thisexclusive Tambolaextravaganza that waslimited to 1500 tickets.Commensurate withthe quantum of prizesthat were beingoffered, the tickets toowere priced at apremium. Sale oftickets started a fewweeks before andclosed well before the event. With the encouraging support by way ofbookings, the Club management went ahead with getting the nitty grittydetails of the actual program in place. A committee headed by theirrepressible and well respected Capt. G M Peter was formed. He inturn appointed Mr Pydah Krishna Prasad, Mr Ravi Godey and Mr CBala Satish as judges for the event, in case there were any disputes ordifferences of opinion between claimants and the organisers. Capt Peteralso co-opted Mrs Bhanu Iyer, Mr KVV Satyanarayana , Mr HarishIdnani and Mrs Sandhya Godey as fellow announcers for the first fourgames and the additional fifth game in case the snowball was notclaimed in the first four games. “Rules, guidelines and general procedure

Coupons issued at thetime of booking were exchanged for Tambola tickets. The immaculateground arrangement soon looked festive with well dressed ladies andgentlemen. Food service was also done without any confusion orcomplaints. At 7.45 pm, Capt Peter began the evening’s proceedings witha brief welcome speech and there after announced the first number of the
