The TreatmentThe Treatment for our film is based through the features of

Intertextuality on the film ‘The Stepfather’. We will be using the Bathroom scene from the beginning of the film. We chose this because we felt that the normality of the beginning scene will build a False Plateau resulting to a very surprising and dramatic ending. We also chose the utensils of the ‘shaving equipment’ to be in the scene because it will build a sense of who the character is by the distinctive organising skills indicating his over compulsive side. In the ending of the scene, we used the Intertextuality features from the film ‘Collateral’ and the episode of ‘Ashes to Ashes’ where the main character enters the car and looks in the rear view mirror to be encountered by the surprise of a mysterious character in the back seat which will end our Thriller Opening through a Cliff-hanger.

Sub-Genre

The Sub-Genre that we have decided to go with is a ‘Crime Thriller’ because we found this type of genre more exciting and more interesting for example like the Films ‘Collateral’ and ‘The Stepfather’.

Planned Locations & Location Shots

We decided to choose the backdrop of a bathroom scene as our setting for the opening scene to our Thriller movie. We would have an establishing shot of the bathroom with our detailed mise en scene to correspond to our character.

Institutional Detail

We have decided to go with 20th Century Fox as our film company who would be producing our film because financially, 20th Century Fox are very rich and are able to produce such a film like ‘What Lies Beneath’. News Corporation is a conglomerate that owns 20th Century Fox and owns other businesses like newspapers such as ‘Sky’ which will help with the Distribution of the film. 20th Century Fox has a history of producing the best actors / actresses such as Michelle Phiffer from ‘What Lies Beneath’. They can also help with the Exchange of the film through Blu-Ray DVD’s.

Audience DetailOur main audience is targeted at 15+

because most teenagers watch Thriller Movies and are willing to go to the cinemas more then adults. This film will please our audience members in many ways by shocking them through music and making them jump through the false plateau.
