EATING HABITS•Examples of good eating habits :–Eating food that is nutritious & constitutes a balances diet

–Chewing the food well easy to digest

–Eating at specific time to avoid stomach ulcers

–Avoiding the habit of eating too much @ not eating at all

–Eating food that has a variety of nutrients with plenty of fibres

GASTRITIS• Caused by bad eating habits (eating too late & not at specific time)

• The empty stomach stimulates the stomach to secrete more gastric juice which contain HCl acid

• The gastric juice acts on the walls of the stomach, causing inflammation of the stomach gastritis long period stomach lining may be eroded to form ulcer gastric ulcer

• Symptoms :– Sharp pain in the stomach, Weight loss– Loss of appetite, vomiting

OBESITY• Excessive body weight due to the

intake of too much food that rich in carbohydrates & fats.

• Body weight is 20% more than the actual body weight with respect to the height.

• Easily contract other diseases such as high blood pressure (hypertension), heart diseases & diabetes mellitus

• Can be avoided in the following ways :– Reduce the intake of food which is rich in

ANEROXIA NERVOSA• A psychological disease which usually occurs among young women who feel they are too fat & not attractive

• An eating disorder refrain from eating & exercise excessively

• Symptoms :– Excessive loss of weight, mental & emotional problems & malnutrition

• Urgent treatment by specialists is required, can cause death if not treated.

EVALUATING NUTRIENT CONTENTS OF FOOD

• Criteria have to be considered when choosing food :– The nutrient content– The freshness– The presence of chemical substances (artificial flavourings, preservatives & colourings not good for health & can cause cancer

• Food Act (1983) & Food Regulation (1985) : all processed food must have a food label to show the nutrient content of the food, the chemical substances used & the expiry date of the food
