First Baptist Crossings First Baptist Crossings Easter Edition
In General, pastors and other church staff mem-
bers, experience a great deal of burnout, depres-
sion, loneliness, and anxiety. A couple from Texas,
Bob and Sandy Sewell, wanted to establish a place
and a ministry where pastors/church staff mem-
bers and their spouses could go for a week of
spiritual refreshment and renewal. Their dreams
were fulfilled with the establishment of Sonscape
Retreat Center near Woodland Park, Colorado, in
a beautiful setting at the foot of Pike’s Peak.
Becky and I attended this place as “retreaters” in
the fall of 2009. It was very helpful to us and was
life changing in many ways. Since that first retreat
at Sonscape, we have wanted to assist and sup-
port other staff members and spouses in ways like
we were helped. So, for the past six years, we
have returned to Sonscape as a “Host Couple” for
a week. We are doing it again this year in early
June. We work primarily in the kitchen preparing
meals, setting tables, cleaning up after meals and
in general, being available for the four couples
that will be in attendance.
Please pray for us. The days are long. The work is
sometimes hard. But it has a great “up side.” We
always get to have in-depth conversations with
those who come and can offer encouragement
to struggling people.
Becky and I will be back at the worship service
here on Father’s Day.
Announcement…
Pastor Dave and Becky will be serving a group of eight, pastors and spouses, at Sonscape Center near Woodland Park, Colorado, June 4th through June 15th. While they are away, we will have two guest speakers for our worship services. - June 5th will be Jeff Buscher, former staff member at FBC and currently
Chaplain at William Jewell College. - June 12th will be Jeff Langford, the re-
gional director for the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship. His office is in Liberty Missouri.
Pray for Dave and Becky while they are away and pray for the two Jeff’s as they are here to speak to us.

Bridge Street Ministries
Bridge Street Ministries is trying something new! Each month, there will be a “focus item or items.” These are items that are running low and are greatly needed in our food pantry. This will help replenish what is needed and also help by keeping you in-formed as to how you can help. Look in the bulletin, weekly email and in the newsletter to see what the “focus items” are for the month. There will be a shop-ping cart in the back of the sanctuary for your items. For the month of June, the focus items are canned mixed vege-table, canned tuna or chicken and canned spaghetti sauce (no glass jars please).
CPR Training/Recertification Ministry Blessing
You still have time to order your FBC t-shirt! The design is the same as last years and they come in two colors, navy and teal. They are available in youth and adult sizes. The cost is $7.00 per shirt. Please let Tammy Kelly know if you would like to order. Orders will be placed by Tuesday, June 7th so we can have them in time for VBS.
Join us this Father’s Day, at 10:30 am for a pancake breakfast prepared by our youth. This is to honor all the men who have
filled fatherly roles in our lives! Donations are welcome and will help with the cost of summer activities. Happy Father’s Day to all our dads!
If you are a church member and a military
veteran, we would like to recognize you during the
Sunday morning service on July 3rd. Please submit a
photo along with the dates of your time served in the armed forces.

Jenny Holmes shared a blessing during the May 29 Worship Service. We wanted to share it with those who were unable to be there.
Recently, the Missouri Baptist Children’s Home sent out a call for children’s clothing. Since our Bridge Street Ministries Clothes Closet does not currently have a huge demand for children’s clothing; several
members of our congregation took the initiative to gather, sort, and deliver 25 bags of children’s clothes. It was a blessing to MBCH to receive the donation from FBC and more importantly the clothes will be of benefit to the children! Thanks to all of those who helped in the effort!
CPR Training Coming to FBC
Andy Bettis is arranging for a Smithville Fire Department instructor to come to FBC on the 3rd or 4th Saturday in July to lead CPR training.
Tentative dates are July 16 or 23, with a final date to be confirmed later this month.
Training will be approximately 3 hours (9 AM—Noon) This training is for anyone interested in taking CPR for
the first time OR for those who previously took CPR training and would like a refresher (and to recertify).
A sign- up sheet is on the bulletin board outside the church office. If you have any questions please call Andy at 816-812-7404.
