Emirates International Salon Culinaire

Organised by the Emirates Culinary Guild (ECG), the UAE’s association of professional chefs, Salon Culinaire is a four day culinary extravaganza that includes seminars, competitions and demonstrations.

The four day event took place at Gulfood 2007 in alliance with the Dubai World Trade Centre and thrilled and inspired audiences with:

• Cookery demonstrations • Live cooking competitions • Ice carving demonstrations • Buffet and banqueting showpieces • Pastry and sugar set pieces • Bakery and confectionery innovations

Seen as a critically-important event within the hospitality industry, the Emirates International Salon Culinaire is organised by the Emirates Culinary Guild, a member of the World Association of Chefs Societies (WACS) - a 52 nation alliance of chef’s associations worldwide. Gulfood, organised by Dubai World Trade Centre, has been hosting the Salon Culinaire since 1987. Over 1,000 young chefs competed for top honours at the 4-day Emirates Salon Culinaire Chefs’ competition, at Gulfood 2007. The aspiring young culinary professionals sought the coveted Gold, Silver and Bronze awards at the competition, displaying a wide range of skills and techniques for international cooking. The Salon Culinaire competition was judged by a panel of 16 renowned judges, all of whom are mandated by WACS to judge culinary competitions across the globe.

Dubai International Food Safety Conference

The 2nd Dubai International Food Safety Conference took place from 20 to 22 February 2007, at the Sheikh Maktoum Hall of Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre, alongside Gulfood 2007 - The 12th Gulf Food, Hotel and Equipment Exhibition and Salon Culinaire.

The largest-ever Conference, organised by the Public Health Department of Dubai Municipality drew together renowned speakers from government, legislative and scientific circles, international organisations such as the WHO, the Codex Alimentarius Commission and prominent educational institutions from around the world.

The Conference provided a unique opportunity to interact with Food Safety Professionals from Australia, France, Germany UK, USA and the Gulf region, to gather information regarding the latest trends and developments in food safety, to raise awareness about food laws and to discuss and debate risk assessment techniques used in enhancing food safety. 523 attendees had the opportunity to further discuss and network during the event.
