Delivering hope.

Our member agencies are vital to what we do. Theyserve on the front lines in the fight against hungeras a direct link to many in need. They are foodpantries, soup kitchens, shelters, adult and childcare centers, and more. Through partnerships with275+ organizations, operating more than 380different programs, we are able to touch the lives ofmore than 211,000 Kentuckians each year.

Fighting hunger.

Fiscal year 2012 can be described as one of pivotal change for God’s Pantry Food Bank. While our mission of feeding hungry Kentuckians has remained steady, we have madenecessary modifications to the way we go about this task.

Continuing with the capital campaign launched the previous year, we completed severalimportant aspects of our expansion project, including 6,000 additional square feet ofcooled space for perishable products, a community room to welcome our 8,000 annualvolunteers and a dedicated room for our repack operation. These changes will allow us toaccess and distribute more healthy, perishable products, and provide a more stablesupply of food staples.

We also introduced a refreshed logo this year, one that more appropriately identifies ourwork as a Food Bank, but honors our heritage and history. Along with the logo change, weadopted a new tag line – Fighting Hunger. Delivering Hope. These strong statementsconcisely represent the work we do every day.

Amid all these changes and construction projects we successfully maintained a high levelof food distribution, seeing 22.8 million pounds of food distributed across our service area.We worked to re-establish food pantries in tornado-ravished Magoffin and MorganCounties, and we increased the amount of fresh fruits and vegetables offered – one-thirdof our total distribution was fresh produce!

As I look to the future, I am humbled, because I know that none of this would be possiblewithout your help. And I am excited about our ability to accomplish the task at hand. Thereare still nearly 120,000 people in the 50 counties we serve whom we have yet to reach withthe food they need, but with the changes we have made we arenow better equipped to receive and distribute more food, in amore efficient way, and reach more people in need.

Because of your support, we have made fundamental changesthat are vital to fighting hunger and delivering hope.

Thank you!

Marian F. GuinnChief Executive Officer

At God’s Pantry Food Bank we believe it isn’t enough to simply provide food, but we must also offer healthy choices and encourage a balanced diet. While we have little control over the donated products we receive, we work strategically to provide fresh produce, adequate proteins and an array of staples, such as starches, grains and dairy.
