Feedback on Rough Cut

By Charlotte Frazer

Page 2: Feedback on rough cut

Do you understand the narrative of the music video?

Do you think it reflects my chosen genre? Is the lip synching accurate? What do you think about the quality of the

footage? Are there any more comments?

Questions:

1. I think it is a little bit disjointed at the moment, I’m guessing the girl is in some way related to him but I don’t think it is clear enough. Perhaps shoot them walking away together at the end?

2. I think it does, the outdoors reflects the indie genre as it is realistic and conveys naturalism.

3. The lip synching is good towards the start; however, at the end it is a little bit off. Also I think the lip synching is better in your outdoor footage, rather than your indoor footage.

4. Overall, it appears to be high quality. I really like the outdoor footage as it’s clear and has strong contrasting elements to it. The indoor footage is slightly grainy and dull.

5. I think you should get rid of the indoor footage and just use outdoor footage, as it is a much higher quality.

1.Not quite, it is a little ambiguous at the moment. I think you need more footage of them together or him in the narrative.

2.Yes, the clothing is casual and laid-back which you often associate with the indie genre. I also like how you’ve filmed outside. It isn’t staged which gives you that naturalistic element that you often see in other music videos of that genre.

3. I think the lip synching is good, it is a little off in one or two places but overall it’s good!

4. The quality is really good, I like the use of the lanterns in side, when it’s dark as the contrast of light and dark is strong. The outdoor footage is really good as well.

5. Perhaps have more close ups of the artist lip synching? Especially in the chorus of the song. I really like the slow motion effect as well as it gives it a stronger sense of emotion.

1. I think so, has he lost his daughter? I understand, but others may have trouble doing so. I agree with Tom that you need to have some footage of them together.

2. Yes, in a lot of indie videos, you see the performer playing an instrument; I like how he is playing the guitar in yours as it reflects the genre.

3. The lip synching is really good and accurate to begin with and then it becomes off from the last verse and chorus. I would re film it as the start is really good.

4. I love how you’ve used a variety of different camera angles as it shows variety and makes your video look more professional. The quality is high for the outdoor footage, but it is rather grainy for your indoor stuff.

5. No, over all it’s really good. Perhaps just tidy up the lip synching at the end.

1. From listening to the song and hearing the lyrics, you can tell that he’s lost someone, which I’m guessing is his daughter/sister?

2. Yes it does. It’s realistic and the audience can relate to your video which is a common convention of indie music videos. I like how the clothing is laid back and he is playing his guitar.

3. The lip synching is stronger in some places than others, but you could fix that easily by re filming the weaker areas.

4. I think you should remove the indoor footage as it lets you down. The outdoor footage is really high quality and clear, and I think it becomes confusing when it flicks to the indoors.
