OverviewOverview

The goal of performing a Client export and import is to be able to move a whole client between two R/3systems that have separate Correction and Transport System (CTS) configurations.

If two R/3 systems are configured in the same CTS system and connected on a network, then the Remoteoption of the R/3 Client Copy utility should be used.

The importing of a client from another system is dependent on the exporting process which is explainedin chapter 19. Chapter 19 describes how to export a client by using transaction SCC2. At the end of theexport process, files are created in the directories <drive>:\usr\sap\trans\cofiles and<drive>:\usr\sap\trans\data of the source system. These files need to be copied to the target client beforethe import process can commence.

In the example that follows, the following assumptions are made:

• Source R/3 system: DODGERS

• Source <SAPSID>: ERC

• Source Client: 001

• Target R/3 system: HPLS3

• Target <SAPSID>: CNS

• Target Client: 300

Before you BeginBefore you Begin• Check to see if the transport file TPPARAM is configured correctly.• Ensure that the CTS system has been initialized using transaction SE06.

Copying the Transport Files from the Source to the Target R/3 SystemCopying the Transport Files from the Source to the Target R/3 System

There are three files created as a result of the export process. They are:

• \usr\sap\trans\cofiles\ KT<transport number>.<SAPSID> (KT00009.ERC in our example)

• \usr\sap\trans\data\ RT<transport number>.<SAPSID> (RT00009.ERC in our example)

• \usr\sap\trans\data\ SX< transport number >.<SAPSID> (SX00009.ERC in our example)

These three files will need to be copied to the same directories on the target system. The followingassumes that there is a network connection between the Source and Target systems. If this is not the case, then this step will need to be performed with the help of some form of magnetic media (i.e., Tape,Diskette, etc.)

1. From the Main program group, start the MS-DOS CommandPrompt.

Completing the Client ImportCompleting the Client Import

Log onto target system in the client that has just been imported ( 300 in this example) as user SAP*. Usepass as the password, or the current password if User Master records have been imported.

In this process, the SAPscript texts are imported and application data is generated.
