Workshop Description:

This workshop will help teachers to create SMART Notebook files through hands onpractice and is appropriate for novice users of SMART Notebook software. Use thisdocument along with the VoiceThread @ http://voicethread.com/share/1061437/ (linkat the bottom left hand corner of this page, click on the small image of the world) tocomplete the three Hands-On Practice activities of this workshop.

Lesson Plan

Participant Objectives:

· Change background colour of a page.

· Create a shape using the shape tool and fill with colour, label.· Create a line using the line tool and change colour.· Type text, change default colour, and change colour.· Use the Gallery to find images.· Use the text tool to label categories.· Create an activity using infinite cloner.· Create a 1-2 page activity for your class.

Teaching and Learning Activities:

1. Orientation:Introduce the Gallery Tab and the Properties Tab to participants using VoiceThread.Participants complete Hands-On Practice #1. (Appendix A)

2. Elicitation:Participants will participate in a Think-Pair-Share activity using VoiceThread.Participants will share their completed example from Hands-On-Practice #1 andstate any questions they may have. The instructors or other participants may replyusing the VoiceThread.

3. Restructuring of Ideas:Introduce the Infinite Cloner to participants using VoiceThread. Participants completeHands-On Practice #2. (Appendix B) Participants will share their completedexample using VoiceThread which will allow them to clarify and exchange ideas, andconstruct and evaluate new ideas.

4. Application of IdeasParticipants complete Hands-On Practice #3. (Appendix C) This will giveparticipants the opportunity to use their new skills to create a 1-2 page activity for their classroom.

5. ReviewParticipants will share their completed example from Hands-On Practice #3 usingVoiceThread and will reflect back on how their ideas have changed by drawingcomparisons between their thinking at the start of the workshop, and their thinking atthe end of the workshop.
