About MarpolMarpol Services was founded in 2009 by three entrepreneurs, each of whom had numerous years of experience in the shipping, mineral oil and waste management sectors at ports including Amsterdam, Den Helder, Rotterdam and Scheveningen. This expertise allows Marpol to provide services perfectly tailored to meet the Port of Amsterdam’s needs and requirements.

However, Marpol is more than just pooled expertise and a 24-hour service. In fact, it is far more. Not only do we know the port intimately, but the port also knows us very well. This includes both dry and wet sides of port opera-tions, i.e. the terminals, warehouses and industry on the one hand andthe bunkering stations, towage services, boatmen, port authorities and customs on the other. Ship Waste CollectionMarpol Services collects ship waste on behalf of the sea going, inland water-way and fishing sectors, as well as miscellaneous offshore companies.

Marpol provides full collection services for all types of ship waste ranging from bin liners full of waste to huge volumes of ballast water and from small-scale packaged waste to heavy fuel oil. Marpol has a comprehensive fleet of barges and various tanktrucks for optimal collection and trans-portation purposes.

Marpol only uses fully licensed waste processing companies for disposing of your collected waste. Not only is it processed in an as environmentally friendly fashion as possible, but it is also carried out at the most affordable rates. As an independent party, we guarantee that the most favourable solution will be found in each specific case. Waste LogisticsOur extensive waste-processing network and knowledge enables us to relieve you of all your waste management issues. Marpol has eight tanktrucks and numerous smaller-scale utility vehicles.

Our tank vessels are on 24-hour standby to ship loads to various processing companies. This allows you to profit from our ready established logistics, sav-ing you money. Registration is completed in Marpol’s name, which means that we take care of the waste management process with the processing company from A to Z. This saves you not only money, but time too

Remedial Clean-Up & Oil Spill Containment Marpol has many years of experience in prevention and remedial clean-up in response to incidents in and on the water, in lock systems, and on board both maritime and inland water vessels. Our personnel has coordinated and tackled a wide variety of incidents.

• Clearing and cleaning up oil along approx. 25 miles of coastline at Hook of Holland originating from a sunken oceangoing vessel, the Tricolor, with 3,000 brandnew cars on board (2003)• Clearing up approx. 6,500 gallons of heavy fuel oil from the Haringhaven in IJmuiden originating from a ferry, the Envoy, smashed to pieces in a storm (2005)• Clearing up approx. 44,000 gallons of diesel from the Amsterdam-Rhine Canal originating from an inland waterway tank vessel that had hit the quayside• Miscellaneous contamination clear-ups in Amsterdam, Beverwijk, IJmuiden, Scheveningen and Velsen ports

Marpol Services BV specializes in the remedial clean-up of surface water, quaysides, oceangoing vessels, inland waterway vessels, and materials and oil booms. Collected waste is of course processed with minimal impact to the environment and in a responsible fashion.

Oil Containment Products & Cleaning AgentsDealing with incidents is specialized work – a field in which Marpol Serviceshas extensive expertise. Our practical experience enables us to advise youabout the correct absorbents to use in the event of a spill. These materialsabsorb only oils and fuels, not water. Marpol Services is a licensed agent for oil containment products and several cleaning agents (MARPOL approved of course).
