JAJAMEMESS O OVAVALL
I really enjoyed my time at Currie Hall. Not only did I successfully complete my degree, but by going to Currie Hall I learnt much more. I made lifelong friends and was able to participate in so many activities, which are the memories that stay with you. Also, I can now just about travel anywhere in the world and have somewhere to stay!”
Aaron, International Student 2004–2007
Currie Hall
Achieving excellence in the living and learning experienceCURRIE HALL
The University of Western Australia
Currie Hall is set in beautifully maintained grounds between The University of Western Australia and Kings Park.
Currie Hall was founded in 1946 as the University Hostel, established in buildings that had previously been used as the Bachelor Offi cers’ Quarters by the American navy during World War II. Construction of the present buildings was begun in 1966 and completed in 1974.
The Hall is named after Sir George Currie, the second Vice-Chancellor of UWA and patron of the Men’s Club that administered the University Hostel.
Today Currie Hall is still owned and operated by The University of Western Australia providing a residential learning experience for over 250 domestic and international students.
Our MissionCurrie Hall is committed to excellence in services, facilities and support where members of the Hall and The Universityof Western Australia can achieve their full potential.
Academic ProgramCurrie Hall prides itself on providing all students with an environment in which they can achieve their full potential. Currie Hall conducts a regular tutorial program for students dealing specifi cally with UWA course units and also general teachings such as time management and study skills. All students are assigned a Resident Advisor who will help guide and encourage them throughout their stay at Currie Hall.
Other activities, such as academic dinners, are organised throughout the year so that students have an opportunity to listen and talk to UWA academics, other University staff and special guests.
Why Choose Currie HallImagine living in a place where you can have a fully furnished bedroom as well as enjoy amenities including internet and telephone in your room, a full size tennis court with lights, a well equipped games room including pool tables and table tennis tables, a library, Foxtel television, a dining hall, a recreation room and organised activities all year round? Yes, you have that and with the beautiful campus of The University of Western Australia on your doorstep!
Currie Hall also has its own student council, known as the Residents Club Committee, which helps to organise events such as inter-college sports competitions, social events, in-house orientations and much more. All this makes it easier to meet and develop lifelong friendships around the world!
