The Waukon Chamber of Commerce will kick off this year’s festivities with serving sweet corn and pork loin sandwiches in the Waukon State Bank parking lot Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The Allamakee County Dairy Wagon will be on site selling ice cream, Brandi Moore will be painting faces and music will be provided by KNEI.

Epic Wear is hosting a Waukon Celebrity Dunk Tank to raise donations for next year’s Corn Days event. The Waukon Celebrity Dunk Tank will be located at the Waukon State Bank parking lot from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. A few of the dunk tank celebrities are Gil Hunstad, Sandy Halverson, Katie Fahey and McKayla Stock. This is a great opportunity to have some fun, dunk your local offi cials and raise money for a great event.

Stranded Memories and Queen Jean Quilting will bestow one recently graduated fi fth grader (must be 11-12 years of age on or before September 1, 2014) with the honor

of Miss Corn Days. Contestants were asked to write an essay entitled “What It Means To Me To Live In Allamakee County”. The Crowning of Royalty will take place in front of Stranded Memories and Queen Jean Quilting at 5:30 p.m. Friday. Miss Corn Days will make an appearance at the Sweet Corn Meal before joining the parade.

Miss Corn Days Coronation

JR (Jason) Brink will be rocking Main Street in front of Good Fellas at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, August 15th. Live music with the talented JR (Jason) Brink always turns into a great night!!

There will be a Corn Days Parade through downtown Waukon at 7:00 p.m. Friday. The parade route will be the same as in years past. Although in previous years this parade has only been open to Classic Cars/Tractors, this year everyone is invited to participate with an entry. Those wishing to enter the parade are asked to be lined up by 6:30 p.m. Friday, at the Allamakee County Fair Grounds. For additional information contact Chamber Director Stephanie Dugan at the Waukon Chamber of Commerce office, 563-568-4110.

Ja Decc’S invites all who dare to compete for the title of Corn Eating Champion at the classic Corn Eating Contest. Kicking off at 8:00 p.m., Corn Eating Challengers will devour ears of corn to see how many ears can be eaten in five minutes. This year’s competition will take place at the Waukon State Bank parking lot following the parade. Bring your families to cheer on challengers and dodge bits of corn in the audience.

The Allamakee Community School District will be holding a Junior High Dance. The dance will

be held from 8:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Friday. It will take place in the Waukon Junior High Gym. The

dance is open to any student who will be entering seventh or eighth grade

this fall. The cost is $5 for each student.

Fairy Gardening Class Toto the Clown

Teams will race through an obstacle course while riding on a Toilet Bowl. This is a timed event with points lost

for various mishaps. The winning team must finish the race with the

toilet and pilot (the member of the team seated on the toilet) still remaining on the racer platform.

The race will take place at 5:00 p.m. downtown Waukon. Anyone 12 or

older is welcome to participate.

Come one, come all to Green Valley Getaway to compete in Epic Wear’s

Wrist Wrestling Tournament. Weigh-Ins start at 6:30 p.m.

with matches to follow.
