HEATSTROKE VS. STROKE(NAPSI)—When the mercury soars, itʼs wise to learn the signsof heatstroke and how they differ from those of stroke.Heatstroke can happen when youʼre exercising outside on a veryhot day or simply by getting overheated. Certain heart medica-tions including beta-blockers, angiotensin receptor blockers, ACEinhibitors, calcium channel blockers and diuretics, which depletethe body of sodium, can exaggerate the bodyʼs response to heat.Symptoms of heatstroke include body temperature of 104° F orgreater; lack of perspiration; hot, dry, flushed skin; nausea; vom-iting; rapid, shallow breathing; headache; confusion; uncon-sciousness; muscle cramps or weakness; and strong, rapidpulse.“Heatstroke is life threatening. If you suspect someone is suffer-ing from heatstroke, you should immediately try to cool him orher down and call 9-1-1,” advised Rani Whitfield, M.D.Stroke warning signs should also prompt a 9-1-1 call immedi-ately. The American Stroke Association says remember F.A.S.T.for stroke: Face drooping, Arm weakness, Speech difficulty, Timeto call 9-1-1. Additional signs can include sudden trouble seeing, dizziness, confusion, severe headache, or weakness on one sideof the body.

Programs provideneeded encouragement, guidance and advocacy to students asthey navigate their high school years and move toward post-grad-uation goals. Protecting Against Sun Dam-age While In A Car

(NAPSI)—The average Americanspends more than 101 minutes aday in a car. Unfortunately, whatmany drivers and passengers failto realize is that when they are in acar, not all the danger they face ison the road. Both drivers and passengers areoften exposed to harmful ultravioletA (UVA) rays, particularly from theside windows of the cars in whichthey ride.“Damage from certain kinds of ul-traviolet rays is cumulative,” saysDr. Dee Anna Glaser, vice chair ofthe dermatology department at St.Louis University. “These rays pen-etrate deep into the skin and cansilently accelerate the agingprocess, cause wrinkles and evenskin cancer.”Fortunately, adding a UVA-block-ing film or tint to car windows canbe an effective way to help blockdamaging rays and protect your-self while you drive. For example, a range of windowfilm options, sold under the brandname LLumar, provide UV protec-tion. Thereʼs even a clear film thatappeals to those who do not wanta darker window appearance, orwhere the use of dark films is pro-hibited by state law. When appliedover ordinary automotive glass, this filmʼs virtually invisible protec-tion blocks more than 99 percent ofharmful UV rays.* LLumar windowfilm acts as “sunscreen”—offeringdaily sun protection with a one-time application.

ALL IN ONE HANDInspirational Documentary on WWI Pianist

The Sembrich presents All in One Hand: The Pianist PaulWittgenstein on Monday, August 4, at 7:30 p.m. at Bolton FreeLibrary in Bolton Landing. This is a special Summer Film Seriesevent for the benefit of the library.Directed by Michael Beyer and produced by BMFI Features, Allin One Hand chronicles the life of pianist Paul Wittgenstein. Afterlosing his right arm while serving as an officer in WWI, Wittgen-stein devised techniques that allowed him to play musical chordsthat were otherwise impossible for a one-handed pianist. Britten,Hindemith, Prokofiev and Strauss all composed works for him.Beyer captures the extraordinary tale of a musician who perse-vered in the face of insurmountable obstacles. The 52-minute film will be followed by a discussion with guest

speaker Richard Bidnick, a leading scholar on the topic of pianoconcertos for the left hand alone who participated in the makingof the film. This is a great story that needs to be told, concerning one man'striumph over tragedy who made a lasting impression through mu-sical artistic achievement," states Bidnick. "This film is an inspi-ration for so many and I look forward to sharing it.”Bidnick has appeared in numerous concert lectures and radio

and television interviews around the world. His musical researchhas appeared in two recent books: "The House of Wittgenstein -A Family at War" by Alexander Waugh and "The Empty Sleeve"by Irene Suchy. The evening will conclude with a screening of an episode from

season eight of M*A*S*H, "Morale Victory," in which PaulWittgenstein figures prominently.Donations will be taken for the benefit of Bolton Free Library in

appreciation for the annual hosting of the Sembrich Summer FilmSeries. This program is sponsored, in part, with public funds from the

New York State Council on the Arts Decentralization Program ad-ministered locally by the Lower Adirondack Regional Arts Coun-cil."All in One Hand, The Pianist Paul Wittgenstein" will be shownon Monday, August 4th at 7:30 pm at Bolton Free Library, 4922Lakeshore Drive, Bolton Landing, New York.
