The Hadley-Luzerne Central School District is deeply sad-dened by the sudden and tragic loss of Hunter Scofield. Hunteris mourned by parents William and Linda Scofield of LakeLuzerne as well as brother, William and extended family. We extend our deepest sympathies to Hunterʼs family and to all

of those impacted by Hunterʼs passing. Hunter was an excep-tional member of our school community and his loss is deeplyfelt.

Hunter, a rising junior, at Hadley-Luzerne High School, had al-ready begun to make his mark on the school community. A mem-ber of the National Honor Society, the soccer and basketballteams, Hunter was also expected to be among the first Hadley-Luzerne students to compete on the WarEagle (LakeGeorge/Hadley-Luzerne) Football team this fall. Hunter washighly regarded by faculty, staff and students as a student with abright mind, interminable kindness for others and unlimited po-tential. He will be missed.The sudden passing of a student shakes the school community

to its core. Counselors and support staff will be available at thehigh school from 8:30 am-12:30 PM on 7-7-14 through 7-11-14to support students who wish to come together and express theirgrief at the loss of their classmate. Arrangements to honorHunterʼs life are incomplete at the time of this release; however,as they are developed, will be shared.

We thank the broader community for its many expressions ofsympathy and offers of assistance and ask that Hunter and hisfamily be kept in their thoughts and prayers in the difficult timeahead.

4-H Green Gardens Program Looking for ParticipantsWARREN CO. - 4-H of Warren County will be hosting a freeyouth program this summer called 4-H Green Gardens. Pro-gramming will take place in two locations, the Warrensburg Com-munity Garden, and the East Field Community Garden in GlensFalls. Karner Blue Butterfly Walks at Wilton Wildlife Preserve & Park

The second week of July will see the second brood of Karnerblue butterflies emerging at Wilton Wildlife Preserve & Park.There are several trails in the Preserve & Park where you canobserve these small blue butterflies. The most accessible are atCamp Saratoga where the trail leaves from parking lot #1. Theother trails are Old Gick Farm & Fox which are accessed fromparking areas off of Route 50, just north of King Road. The Pre-serve & Park is home to the largest population of these endan-gered butterflies in the Northeast. There are several opportunitiesto take a guided nature walk to look for the butterflies. Thesewalks will take place on Thursdays starting on July 10 and con-tinuing through the month of July. The walks will be offered twicea day, at 11:00 am and again at 4:00 pm. The walks leave fromthe parking area for the Old Gick Farm on Route 50 which is justunder 4 miles past Wilton Mall. The walks should last about anhour & cover a mile of gently rolling terrain. 2014 Annual Report of the Village of CorinthTo the Village of Corinth I submit the following report.Your Board: Deputy Mayor Timothy Halliday, Melanie Denno, Mitch Saunders, and Julius Enekes;Clerk-Treasurer Nicole Colson, DPW Superintendent Arthur Lozier III, Fire Dept. Chief Andy Kelleyand Building Inspector/ Code Enforcement Officer Greg Berg, have worked diligently, with me toprovide you, the residents of the Village of Corinth, with the best quality of services as economicallyas possible this past fiscal year. Clerk –Treasurer Colson, acting as Budget Officer, the membersof the Board and the Department heads worked long and hard on this yearʼs 2014-2015 Budget.Working together we were able to provide a better level of services at no increase in the tax ratefor this coming year.We continue to plan for the challenge presented by the Villageʼs aging infrastructure and 40 yearold waste water treatment plant. Much thanks to our very knowledgeable operators who have beenable to keep it running and meeting state standards. Using a DEC Pre-Planning Grant we havehired Chazen Engineering to determine the best and most efficient way to update our Waste WaterSystem. We are very pleased with the completion of the dam and reservoir property and the beautiful bridgeacross the spillway on the upper reservoir. If you have not had the opportunity to visit this site,please consider making the trip to this beautiful portion of Village property, it is a great place totake a walk, picnic, fish or hunt.Other projects completed this year include, but are not limited to:• The entire Village Code is available on the Village website www.villageofcorinthny.com• Paris Avenue was rehabilitated with new water and sewer mains, curbing and sidewalks• The water storage tank was refurbished• A new electrical service was installed at Pagenstecher Park• A new concrete entrance pad was installed at the Firemenʼs Dock• Sidewalks throughout the Village were replaced as needed and crosswalk striping applied• Daily maintenance of all Village buildings and grounds is ongoingShared Services projects include:• Installation of outdoor classroom at Corinth Elementary School• Paving projects with Town of Corinth, Greenfield, Day and Hadley• Assistance with new Saratoga County Sheriffʼs shooting rangeProjects currently in progress include:• The water filtration plant mandated by the NYS Health Department should be completed in July • The complete rebuild of Walnut Street, including new water & sewer lines, is underway • Laberge Engineering is currently working on plans for the rehabilitation of Pine Street• The Village is working with developers interested in building a low-to moderate income seniorliving complex on the former Firemanʼs field• We have contracted with U.S. Light Energy for solar power at the Fire House which will potentiallysave over $110,000 in electrical costs over the next 20 years • We are in conversation with National Grid to bring natural gas to the village for residential andcommercial use• We are in the process of updating our Comprehensive planAs always, the Villageʼs greatest asset is our staff. DPW Superintendent Lozier, Assistant DPWSuperintendent Cliff Jensen, 8 DPW employees, WWTP Head Operator Clayton Laubach and 2assistant operators have worked day and night in all kinds of weather and through a difficult winterto ensure proper operation of the Villageʼs infrastructure. They should be commended for the re-markable job they do for our community. The fiscal condition of the Village of Corinth continues to improve each year. The NYS Comptrollerhas indicated the Village is not designated as a community under fiscal stress. Standard & Poorʼshas upgraded the Villageʼs bond rating from “A” to “A+” this past year and affirmed a stable financialoutlook, allowing the Village to bond future projects with a lower interest rate. The dedication ofClerk- Treasurer/Budget Officer Nicole Colson and Deputy Clerk-Treasurer Alice Lissow is to becommended. We appreciate their efforts to keep the Village running smoothly and their excellentservice to our residents.Town Supervisor, Dick Lucia and I have been meeting regularly to find ways we can work togetherto provide both Town and Village residents with services while saving money. Both Town and VillageDPW departments have been very effective in working together to complete projects without havingto bring in expensive outside contractors and work force. This saves residents money and keepsthe money we do spend local. I thank Supervisor Lucia for his willingness to work together and hisdedication to making all of Corinth a better place to live.Finally, I would like to thank our Volunteer Firefighters and members of our Jessupʼs Landing EMSfor being there 24-7. I thank our Image Committee, Planning Board, Zoning Board of Appeals andall the other Committees for volunteering their time to serve our community. I also thank the manyorganizations, Such as the American Legion, the Corinth Central Schools, the Community ofChurches, the Rotary, the Merchants Association, Little League, The Grange and all the many othergroups that serve the needs of our community and make Corinth a better place to live.

Help Still Available Year-Round in Many Cases [Queensbury, NY] – Adirondack Health Institute (AHI) helped 1,982 individuals and families in sevenAdirondack-region counties obtain health insurance coverage through the NY State of Health Mar-ketplace during the Affordable Care Actʼs initial six-month open enrollment period. “Itʼs been extremely gratifying for our team to help so many people enroll in low-cost health insur-ance,” said Joyce Porter, AHIʼs Enrollment Assistance Services and Education (EASE) DepartmentManager. “Itʼs especially pleasing since many of those individuals & families are covered for thefirst time in their lives.” Porter stated that many people who missed the open enrollment deadline might not be aware thatthey still may be able to get coverage. “Even though open enrollment for qualified health planswonʼt begin again until Nov. 15th, people may still enroll year-round if they have experienced aqualifying life event such as the loss of a job or the birth of a child.” said Porter.
